The Red Wings are said to be one of 3 or 4 teams considering signing the 2017 Hobey Baker winner, Will Butcher. The Captain of Denver and winner of the Hobey Baker AND the National Championship, the defensive prospect is held in high regard by the Black Hawks, Wings, Sabres, Wild and Devils. Will put up 37 pts in 43 games for the champion Denver team. Outstanding numbers for a NCAA d-,man. He could really help solve a LOT of problems for the Wings, including offensive production from the back end and transition game upgrade, things that Butcher can offer with his skill sets. Expect Holland to make a strong pitch. The Ave's drafted Butcher, but he becomes a UFA after Aug 15 if he does not sign, which he has said he will not, prefers the UFA route....lol, who wouldn't, huh?

I read Montreal is going to make a hard push to sign him too.

This would make perfect sense, they need fresh blood to replace Markov, Emelin, Shergachev and Belieau.
