Not expecting whole lot this season, but just hope to see development of young guys really. Cant say I love Vrbata taking roster spot at this point. Lets play the kids. I'm not a Panthers fan, but follow my guys on my keeper like Barkov, Bjugstad. I just looked at their opening roster: https://www.nhl.com/panthers/news/florida-panthers-announce-opening-night-roster-for-2017-18-season/c-291558142 And I see all kinds of youth: Malgin, Tippett, McCann at Forward; McCoshen, Weegar on D. Point more towards the damage that was done is going to take time to repair. If I thought we were a playoff team id be fine with Vrbata but I dont feel we are. Not sold on Weeger or McCann, feel were rushing Tippett and hes going to have alot of pressure to score early, and need McCoshen to be our grit on D as Petro only other guy back there with any, and he has tendancy to go to far and take to many bad penalties. To me the keys for your guys are the young guys all of whom went through bad spells last year. Huberdeau had more or less a lost season, Ekblad lost his defined role and looked hopeless at times, Barkov missed 21 games, Bjugstad has been robbed of his career due to health issues and is a shell of what he could have been. If those four all play 75 games or so and play like they are capable of they have a chance to be competitive. If not it does not matter who is in net or how anyone else does.
