This game should be interesting. I absolutely love the Predators defense. There offense also has a lot of potential as well with the likes of Arvidsson, Forsberg, Johansen, Fiala, and the addition of Bonino. The question mark I have with the Bruins is will Chara be able to continue as a quality Defensemen and what will Carlo and the young McAvoy give them on the D-Line. I love Marchand and Pastrnak on the Bruins offense and Tuukka Rask is a top notch Goalie. It certainly should be a good game.

I think Chara is fine for another year or two, obviously not in the Norris conversation but he still has decent enough legs to be effective on the first pair.

I was more worried about tonight's game before finding out that Bergeron is out. Then again, it's always tough to go on the road and win someone else's home opener when everyone has some optimism and the crowd is going. Hopefully the Preds have an "unfinished business" attitude this year and actually build up some points in the first half of the season for a change!

You are correct it is tough to win a home opener on the road, but it can be done because my team the Flyers did it last night against the Sharks and tonight they go to L.A. to try and spoil there home opener tonight. Good Luck to your Preds.

First period was a slow start for the Preds. No shots for the first 12:30 of the period, outshot 7 or 8-0 to that point.

Preds were short handed a bit (a common theme in the NHL this season) and the Bruins scored one. The Predators failed to score on their powerplay opportunity.

Frustrated with the start Cody McLeod challenged Adam McQuaid. McQuaid took down McLeod first but both players popped back up before the refs could stop the fight and McLeod ended up dropping McQuaid in the second half of the matchup.

In the final 7:30 the Preds outshot the Bruins 8-5 and Arvidsson scored in the final seconds to get things tied up at the first intermission.

Also of note is that this is the first broadcast with former Preds goalie Chris Mason on color commentary. He replaces Stu Grimson who, despite being exceptionally intelligent, was wildly unpopular with the fans.

Grimson has moved on to a job with NHL Network.

Second period is all Bruins. Preds are undisciplined, unable to convert whatever chances they do have and unable to contain the Bruins counter attack.

Krejci is up to three assists for Boston. The Bruins defense is playing well in transition, they're getting back fast, getting loose puck and getting the play turned back out of the zone and up ice.

Well I didn't watch most of the third period, down 3-1 and in the midst of a fruit fly crisis in my house I opted to head to the store to buy some traps.

Looks like a Preds made a game out of it but ran out of time.

I'm not going to panic over one game. The scorers had some chances, they'll continue to get chances and they will convert enough. Bonino didn't look great but he also hasn't participated in camp at all so this was his first go with a new team and no preparation.

Defensively, I'm not sure what Lavy was thinking with playing Irwin any higher than the third pair. He's not a good defenseman, luckily we have some options with 2-3 other players we can try in that spot until Ellis returns.

It will get better than this, for sure.
