Honest Bender
Once again it looks like Poile struck gold on drafting a defenseman. Girard has been awesome so far and is really pushing to stick around past his nine games at this point. I was sick as a dog last night and obviously wasn't online to post during the game. But Girard was fantastic and earned the first star of the game. His family was in attendance from Quebec as well, his mom was crying and Sam was able to point them out and give them a shoutout when he was announced as the first start (the Preds do a quick interview with the first star every night which is on the broadcast and also on the jumbotron). He's a very good skater, he has puck control, passing and shooting and he's poised for being a 19 year old throw into the NHL. If he keeps playing like this, it would be a huge upgrade on the third pair, especially when Ellis returns. Ekholm - Subban Josi - Ellis Girard - Emelin He's actually had great chemistry with Ekholm so far as well, so it could also end up being something like... Josi - Subban Ekholm - Girard Ellis - Emelin What other team in the NHL could put Ryan Ellis on the third pair?
Podein25
You can see the skill. Great skater, very confident with the puck. He's practically a Forward the way he plays. As a coach, he would make me nervous as hell, but that's the case with many young players.
flyercanuck
That was a heck of a shot, must have been awesome for his family.
Hockey-78
Yeah, very talented - was it worth trading Girard to get Turris?
