“Find a way” is the new “not good enough”

We are seeing progress and evidence of self-realization now.

The cliché “not good enough” has been replaced by “find a way.” Congrats to us for finally admitting that we are lost. It’s the first step toward recovery.

OK, actually, it’s not that we are really lost, but rather that despite playing at a reasonable level considering our talent, we aren’t winning. We don’t have what it takes to win in this league right now on a consistent basis. Bottom line, if you look at our lineup, we are just not good enough.

Oh, %+?+,!,=#!! Now I’m doing it! I must be Red Wing front office material!

Watched the painful game against the Devils, it confirmed a few thoughts that I have had.

We are painfully slow, as in glacially slow, as in we cannot with the exception of AA, Lark and Helm keep up with other teams, this includes all of our forwards, the entire defense, every single player outside of those three look either old or tired or disinterested. Simply awful to watch. Little Bertuzzi did play a very good game but speed is not what he brings to the table and it is speed that we need.

If we cannot keep up with other teams in the speed department we need to clog the middle of the ice, play hard, contest every inch of ice and force the other team to the outside where they take lower percentage shots. Instead, we are playing a reactive game, the other team is tilting the ice towards poor Jimmy Howard and we are more interested in clearing the puck rather than playing the puck, carrying the play as it were. The Devils announcers even commented on it in the first period when the Devils were in possession of the puck through much of the period, the Wings were reactive rather than attacking. Awful to watch.

Howard is playing arguably the best hockey of his career and it is a shame wasting the effort nightly with such a lousy bunch in front of him.

Blash has to go. Holland needs to retire. Same old song, sung as a funeral march for this season.

Speed is the new size these days. It's great if you can have both (but in the current NHL) if you can't keep up you're dead meat.
