What about you? Would you trade Sanheim given Myers' and Morin's injury history?

No, unless the return is ridiculous.  Certainly not for anyone mentioned in this thread.

A lot of the flyers’ future success is predicated upon the defensive unit being a strength. If all of a sudden, three of your prospects no longer figure to contribute in the future (because you traded one and the other two have injury issues or haven’t developed as you would like), then you just set yourself back quite a bit.  As mentioned, I think he is definitely an NHL player. I don’t know if he’s a top pairing guy, but I think he will be more than just a PP specialist.  in short, I think his ceiling probably high and his floor not so bad.  Why trade him especially if there are concerns about Myers or Morin.

but that is a projection in and of itself...   You cant discount Sanheim as being a projection and then say a "future top line forward"...   if you are trading for another young player that is just as much of a risk.  You might project that player to be a top line bu no guarantee.

Yes, that’s true. I didn’t mean trading Sanheim for a prospect. Even though Reinhart has question marks, and I don’t think I’d trade Sanheim for him, he’s proven a lot more than Sanheim at the NHL level. That’s the kind of player I mean. Someone who has a few proven years in the NHL. Still a risk, but less so.

Even so, would you consider trading Sanheim for, say, Mittelstadt? I doubt Buffalo would ever trade him, but it’s the kind of trade that deals from a position of strength to bolster an area of weakness - top line forwards. But, yes, he’s just a prospect too.

The point I was trying to make is that we have developed two top pairing defense men who are playing in the NHL right now, so I’d consider moving an unknown Sanheim for a young top line forward. It would have to be the right deal.

But right now, I’d wait. There’s no rush.

I will lose my sht if any of this goes  down. We are in year 3 of a 5 year rebuild. Now is not the time to change course. Buffalo is the last place I want players coming from. Hextall has demonstrated that he will stay the course, and I expect nothing else.

Minor move for a stop gap goalie ....sure but that is it.  Only a move that blows doors off is acceptable. I’ve waited 3 years for 2020...hexy better not deviate now.

i might be biased from watching him in juniors BUT Sanheim is not in any discussions period.  That type of offensive, puck moving game is gold and he oozes it. I’ve seen him unleashed and destroy the winterhawks too many times.

I would love the playoffs now but want no part of anything that affects the long term plan.  I’ve waited too long for this type of rebuild to not see it come to FULL fruition!

That is all we can do with a 21 year old Dman who is just his 2nd season of his entry level contract. He has played all of 89 AHL games.

No one can touch his offensive acumen

Right now.  Sanheim can match his offense and then some i think once he has reached Ghost age of 24 soon to be 25.

just a testament to how hard Ghost has worked at becoming a better defenseman in the NHL.

Exactly because he was given a chance. Good thing they didn't trade him when he struggled....right.

If there is somehow an opportunity to find a future top line forward - a game-changer - and that involves trading Sanheim, I think Hextall would consider it.

Fine consider it all he wants but i wouldn't do it. It is easier to find forwards than Dmen with Travis's upside. D men just take a little longer to develop.

The Flyers have a lot of talent coming you'll just have to remain patient and let them arrive. You plant the seed you can't rush it to sprout.

Seems like we'll just agree to disagree

Completely.

If this team was all around closer and just a forward away i may be more incline to make a move but they are not the pieces are coming together it just can't be rushed.

The rest of the blueline will be arriving and then the goalies will be here.

No what has he proven???

He is just a freshman in college and he can even Jimmy Vesey when the time comes he doesn't have to sign...NO!

Exactly. This isn't a deep playoff group....they will be lucky to make it TO the playoffs. No way i'm gambling this year. The window is not open.

Yes we have contract problem.  G and Jake have bad ones can we dump one? Trade Simmons cause with you can't trade One above.Ivan has 8 or 9 mil deal coming. Also a few also need contracts. Stay on course young with a sprinkle of vets. No Kane. Back up goalie yes.

Dear God if i had to chose between those two i take Reinhart for sure.

No way i want any of ROR's 7.5 mill price tag for the next 5 years for just a 40-50 point forward. HELL NO!

Unless Mcdud and Lehtera is going back the other way!

O'Reilly isn't a fit for the Flyers at all, but he is clearly a 50-60 point player and a demon at the dot. He hasn't been below 55 points for four years and is on pace for 56 this season.

Haha, you know, I guess it does kinda look like OBAMA!

Yes, it's The Drama Tree - the band name under which I record and release music. It's just my cousin and I, and our favourite band and biggest influence is Dream Theater (even though we sound NOTHING like them haha!).

So, I played around with a few ideas, and came up with the anagram The Drama Tree so we could quietly honour our idols in a way that was important to us.

HaHa! That's great man! I'm a musician myself (in a former life before kids and work took over), but used to gig around up here in Portland, Maine (just bar ****, mostly covers and a few originals sprinkled in)....SO much fun. I miss it terribly. Barely get to pick up my ax anymore.

I always say playing music (or an instrument) is like sex....you can do it alone, but it's SO MUCH BETTER with someone else! :)

Anyway, don't want to derail the thread but I just died laughing this morning when I finally realized my mistake......too funny.

Nice band name and best of luck with your music. I'll go find you online and have a listen!

I am a Prov fanboy as much as anyone... his next deal wont be for 8 or 9M.   He will be signed to a bridge deal....

Agreed, $5-6 mil for 2-3 years.  If they can lock him up long term I'd be happy... Long term @ 6.5-7 range and I'd be happy too lol

A good comparable is Seth Jones, who signed a 6 year contract @ $5.4M per season in 2016.

Is that the going price in today's market??

7.5 mill?

tenor.gif?itemid=6129906

Should have just kept Schenn then.

Well, there are 13 players in the league who make as much or more than OReilly that have more points than him this season.

And 13 who don't.

We report, you decide. I think most players are overpaid...

My point was that your characterization of him as a 40-50 player was fundamentally incorrect.

Because it was.
