Congrats to the Knights, still don't like them but they played a stranglingdefensive series and completely shut down the Sharks.

Given the Sharks scored four goals in Game 2, another four in

Game 4, as well as three goals in Game 5, methinks the Knights

didn't exactly shut down San Jose completely. They certainly

almost totally shut down the Kings though, who also did

similarly to Vegas aside from one quick two-goal burst.

Vegas has shown in many games that they can be dominant defensively.

Couple that with Fleury tending the net and their future opponents had

best not fiddle around waiting for the mother of all passes or the

mother of all shots. They better strike on rare openings, infrequent

lapses, to increase their chances against these uppity Vegasonians. :)

For those who don't have access to NHL.com or who cannot use their stats filters or just don't like MAF (not mentioning any names)...

.951 SV%  (1st)
1.53 GAA (1st)

344 Shots Against (1st)

If this continues, "Fleury" may well be French for "Conn Smythe".

Those are some staggering stats, B.

Reminds me of a couple things:

If teams appear relatively evenly matched to me,

it's tough to go wrong betting on the one

whose netminder has the more impressive

hockey card. :)

It also gets me thinking why I wasn't betting

on Boston :bruins: this time around. Replace Rask

with MAF and the Bruins had a much better

chance to take it all. Fleury's come up huge

in two closeout games thus far.

Without looking at stats, Rask has seemed to underwhelm lately compared to the last time I saw a lot of him in the post season when he allowed 2 goals in 4 games against the Pens in the ECF.

Rask has certainly had his runs, as you've pointed out here,

but this postseason his defenses were way too permeable

in the biggest games. He wasn't StanleyWorthy material

this time 'round.
