...or now is it the time to move on??

I don't think him tying the knot will affect his decision. I'm pretty sure he loves where he's playing and his teammates...he'll want to get paid but I'd bet there's still a hometown discount, even though he already did that once.

So i was think would the addition of JVR make the top 6 mix up...Giroux was a RW in juniors...so slow day...

JVR-Coots-Giroux

TK-Patty-Jake

Lindy-Vorobyev-Simmer

Laughton-Vex-Raffl

Lehtera Weal Weise

or

Giroux-Coots-TK

JVR-Patty-Jake

Lindy-Voro-Simmer

Lehtera-Laughton-Raffl

Weise Weal

I think i like the 1st line up.

The second. I don't want TK on the left. That was horrible for him his rookie year. And I don't want Giroux on the right. The bigger complaint is TK, but I think they're unnecessary moves.

And I'm kind of hoping it's Frost at 3C. That puts Voro at 4C and slides Laughton out to 4LW.

If Frost and Voro both make the team, someone (2 people?) has to get buried because it sounds like they want to carry 7 defensemen.

I was thinking Frost would be back in junior but he has got his weight up to 184 and after seeing Ivan and TK force them to let them make the team.

He very well could.

Yeah, it's going to be a size thing. He doesn't have anything left to prove at the junior level, but if he's smallish yet when the time comes, you may have to send him down for his own protection until he bulks up some more.  At 184, he's almost there but still in judgement call territory.

My opening day lineup...

Giroux-Coots-Konecny

JVR-Patrick-Voracek

Lindblom-Laughton-Simmer

Raffl-Vorobyev-Aube Kubel

--------------------------------------------------

Lehtera Weal

Wiese waived to AHL.

Provorov-Ghost

Sanheim-Mcdud

Hagg-Folin

--------------------------------------------------

Gudas

Elliott

Neuvy

I'm not happy with the goalies situation but it seems like Ron is convinced Neuvy changing trainers is going to make him better.

SMFH

But anyways.

I would also hope there could be one more addition as Frost winning a spot and forcing the Flyers to waive one of Weal or Lehtera or trade someone for room for Morgan.

But right now i'm ok for him going back for one last year of junior.

I don't get why people are so down on Gudas. He simply had a bad year last year. Even then for having a bad year, his advanced metrics were still really good. What's even more noticeable was that when Gudas played with meat pig, his numbers were awful. When he was paired with Sanheim, his numbers were awesome.

Damien is exactly the kind of partner that's a perfect fit for Gudas. When Gudas and Del Zotto were partnered, it was a great fit.

I think Gudas bounces back big time this year and really helps balance things out. I also think Folin and Hagg become an effective third pairing and leaves MacDonald on the outside looking in.

I do like the forward lines though. Adding Vorobyov and Aube-Kubel to the mix is a smart move as it add speed (Aube-Kubel) and smarts (Vorobyov). If they're given decent ice time, that fourth line could give most teams fits.

I don't hate Gudas but I want someone out the lineup between him and Mcdud.

So if Mcdud is out I can live with it.

I liked Gudas when we got him. I think he was castrated by the league. It's possible he takes the summer to get his mind around how to use his abilities and stay out of trouble and keep the league bullseye off himself.  If that's the case, he can be effective.

Out of the gate, Folin is my 7D.  I do not play Folin nor Gudas over MacDonald, who was actually good the past year and a half.

Ghost Provorov

Sanheim MacDonald

Gudas Hagg

Folin

Things get screwy if Myers somehow makes it out of camp or when Morin is ready.  But this is my opening day, pending Myers (I don't see him on the Flyers out of camp specifically because of the crowd, even if he has an amazing camp).

If either Frost or Vorobyev makes the team, waive Lehtera. Hakstol won't play Weise. He will play Lehtera. Take the option away from him.:

Giroux - Couturier - Konecny

JVR - Patrick - Voracek

Lindblom - Laughton/Frost - Simmonds

Raffl - Laughton/Vorobyev - Weal

Weise - Leier

Provorov - Ghostisbehere

Sanheim - Gudas

Macdonald - Hagg

Folin

If Myers makes the team, Folin gets waived and Hagg sits, because MacDonald won't.

If Frost makes the team, I stick Laughton at 4LW and move Raffl to 4RW.  Keep Vorobyov at 4C.

I agree with your waiving Lehtera and the reason for it. There's some rule about number of veterans in the AHL, so IF Frost makes the team, can we send Weise down as well, or would it have to be Leier?  Or would someone take a year of Weise for a 5th rounder?

That's certainly an option. I'm not opposed, I just doubt both make it this year.

It's just a rule regarding how many can dress on a given night. They could stick both in the AHL if they want, but I doubt they will. If both Vorobyev and Frost make it, Leier will go back down.

Frost making the team is a huge if.

Ron will be looking forward a little when it comes to resigning some of these kids i think.

You have 7 entry level contract starting this year not including Frost.

Hart, Sandstrom, Laberge, Ruby, Bunnaman, Kase and Twarynski.

So i know he will be taking that into consideration some. And he has to he is the GM.

It won't be the final say so but Frost will have to blow them away to stick.

The following year you will have Frost, Ratcliffe, Sushko, Strome, Allison, Laczynski, Lycksell, Hogberg and Bernhardt starting their entry level contracts.

And maybe Ustimenko maybe coming over from the KHL not so sure with him he could stay one more year i think.

So those are a lot of problem (although good problem to have and weigh and balance).

Now the good thing is most of these kid's bridge deals won't be huge or anything however is is a balancing act between they guys you have and will be not resigning and moving on from to replacing with youth.

A tough job.

I'm sure Ron will do his home work and move the ones he wants who he sees fits and move the ones who don't.

No worries it is good to see all the talent that has been collected.

Hey a slow day and all so why not ask this would you trade for Tuukka Rask???

I seent his article and there is no proof that Bruins want to move on from him and all but at 31 and only on the books for 3 more years would he be a good option...just asking for a friend.

Here is the article.

https://www.yahoo.com/sports/haggerty-jaroslav-halak-place-dealing-145822581.html

So i wonder if the Bruins would take say Elliott as part of the deal???

Now of course it would require more but just kicking some tires on this.

Would Rask 7 mill cap hit for the next 3 years bbe too much or would he just be a bad option all around.

2018-19 Rask/Neuvy/Lyon

2019-20 Rask/Lyon/Stollie

2020-21 Rask/Hart

And maybe just maybe by 2020-21 trade Tuukka before the trade deadline.

Thoughts??

Worries.

Comments or concerns welcome.

I will not be able to comment right back headed to the gym.

I don't think those ELCs expiring is going to be a concern at all. If they're not on the big club when they expire, they won't get big deals. If they all are in line for big raises, the Flyers are in great shape, because there certainly won't be room on the roster for them all.

Rask is a tough fit. Next year you have to worry about re-signing Provorov and Konecny, and to a lesser extent Sanheim and Laughton. Then Raffl, Simmonds, Weal, and Lehtera are all pending UFAs whose spots you will need to fill, though those will all be bottom-6/specialist type players. The following year, Lindblom, Patrick, and (hopefully) Myers will be in line for new deals. At $7 million per year, Rask is a tough fit - though not impossible. Plus, it would probably be a pretty expensive trade from a Flyers perspective, and since he won't be the future, it's tough to justify the prospective cost.

Yes could be and i'm cheap as i don't really want to give up much for him and at the same time they need him.

And i can't say i know their prospect system from head to toe but off the top of my head i don't think they have someone groomed to even replace him.

So it would take a huge deal to even make them move him which i wouldn't want to do.

So it was just a stop and think about type deal.

They haven't spent a high pick on a goalie since Subban and he is in Vegas now.
