flyercanuck 8,764
Alex Lyon stopped 94 (yes, 94) of 95 shots including 79 in a row and Alex Krushelnyski (whoever that is....Mikes son?) scored the quintuple OT winner as the Phantoms won after 146:48 of hockey. https://theahl.com/marathon-men-phantoms-win-longest-ahl-game-ever

hf101 3,156
I followed the game (nearly play-by-play) last night on twitter. Tony @TonyAndrock / http://insideahlhockey.com/ The Phantoms played most of this game with 5 defensemen as Sam Morin left the game with a knee injury as he got twisted along the boards. They were also without the Sanheim, their top center, Varana, and Aube-Kubel also due to a 3 game suspension. This game meant a lot to those playing tonight as the Phantoms were able to take a 3-1 lead in the series going home to game 5 in Allentown on Saturday. Yes, @flyercanuck Mikes's son.
hf101 3,156
At one point last night Tony tweeted the Checkers staff was handing out popcorn to the 1000 or so left in attendance during the 4th OT.

hf101 3,156
I thought I'd post another on how great Alex Lyon was in this game with the Huge Win after 94 saves. That's crazy -- 3 games worth on 95 shots.
brelic 4,606
His playoff numbers are sick. 1.56 gaa, .958 save %.

Pretty good at skating the puck up ice too... Lyon is 6-0 in the playoffs this year. Not sure why they would start Tokarski again. yave1964 3,093
Lyon went the final 119 and change without a goal allowed, essentially the equivalent of two shutouts back to back on the same night. Insane.
brelic 4,606
Lyon sets the record for most saves in a game by a winning goaltender. The record holder for most saves in a game? Michael Leighton. 98 saves in a 5 OT loss to the Phantoms. http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/Bill-Meltzer/Game-4-Phantoms-Win-Longest-Match-in-AHL-History-CHL--Worlds-Updates/45/92805 Quote On April 24, 2008, Michael Leighton, then with the Albany River Rats, made 98 saves in an ultimately losing cause in a five-OT game against the Philadelphia Phantoms. Ryan Potulny scored the game winning goal at 2:58 of the fifth overtime on the Phantoms' 100th shot of the night. Winning goaltender Scott Munroe stopped 65 of 67 shots in the 3-2 victory.
