 I see it differently. George McPhee made about 7 or 8 veteran GM's look absolutely silly. The wicked expansion draft (really, not Vegas's fault the NHL changed the rules for them...they just played under the rules given to them), the smart savvy use of the salary cap, McPhee picked an awesome team.....and the pure incompetence of the other GM's directly allowed it. Geez, Dale Tallon should be SHOT for throwing in Riley Smith as a salary dump after letting them take Marchessault.

 Did not even think of this angle.....THIS I totally understand, and yeah, Flyer fans cheering against the Knights for this reason....that is cool in my books.

on the one hand, you are right, they DON'T want to root for a division rival (especially @ruxpin , who even as we speak is researching various poisons that kills ONLY Caps fans), but on the other hand, that division rival, is not as great a one as the rival Philly fans hate most...AND the one that the Caps did a favor for you guys and ensured they wouldn't threepeat.

 

Then you have "encouraging" the fixed draft rules so Gary Bettman looks like a damned genius putting a team out in the desert (again), in a drifter state, where even if the team wins, no one is supposed to know about it because, well, you know...what happens in Vegas......

 

But of course, you HAVE to admire the work put in by everyone involved with the Knights.....they don't get there without working their asses off, doing their homework, and especially for the players, executing on the ice.
If any other organization feels the Knights shouldn't be there, then they have had opportunities to knock them off their pedestals....and so far, no one has.

 

So yea.....quite a pinch Philly fans find themselves in.

But you know, it could have been worse (besides Pierre Edward Bellemare having a shot at a Cup before Giroux, Voracek, and Couturier that is)……. the Knights COULD have made a deal with the Flyers, taken guys like MacDonald off your hands, taken Manning off your hands, or even Mrazek...and STILL be in position to win a Cup...with any of those three pieces being key to their success! :ph34r:

 

I'd say just sit back and enjoy the Stanley Cup ride......all ya can really do.

That's what I'm doing, and I don't particularly care for either team either... 😁

Well, it isn't a conundrum for THIS Flyers fan. I haven't built up enough animosity versus the Caps to dislike them, even after losing in six to them 2 years ago. I like Ovechkin and am happy to see him win a Cup. As I've mentioned (maybe ad nauseum), I don't want Vegas to win it their first year, if only because the Flyers still hold the fastest team to win the Cup record at 7 years in.  Oh, and there's always next year to give them MacDonald.

 If every Flyer fan got a few bucks for every player who left and won the Cup, we would all be retired, sipping drinks with funny umbrellas on some swanky resort. As soon as a Flyer leaves, their chances of winning it all goes up 60%....I kid you not

AMEN!  Hate the Craps and Ovary despite the fact that they did us a favor with the Pens (finally).  Their choking out in the final leg would be pretty sweet in many many ways.

The VGK win would still irritate me due to the rigged expansion draft,  the fact that this team is from the desert rather than a traditional hockey hotbed, and last but not least, that I am 42 and the Flyers last cup was 43 years ago ,while these know nothing about hockey fans will enjoy the Cup in their first year of existence.  Its more than nauseating as I have spent a lot of time and money on the Flyers with no Cups and a lot of frustration to show for it.

 

Basically Flyers fans are going to have to put a lot of salt on this turdburger to choke it down no matter what happens.

Either one is better than a Penguin 3-peat...with drooling over Letang and Crosby by Regis. Hell, the old Soviet Red Army team...a North Korean team winning the Cup would be better than that.

Well, i have a conundrum. The Caps fans I would want to target are the pompous Ovechkin Johnny Come Lately bandwagon folks that didn't know the team existed before 2004.  But it would be a 95% smaller batch (and proportionately cheaper) if I target the fans that were there before him. What to do...what to do.

 I might have stopped watching hockey if the Pens 3 Peated.....but the thought of OV lifting the cup DISGUSTS me.....like, I JUST NOW got a chalky taste in my mouth thinking about it!!

So you dislike Vegas because they're not part of the NHL establishment? Their team was built on players 30 other teams didn't want. Why fault Vegas for something 30 other teams basically had the majority of say in who they acquired?

First off......HORRIBLE pass by Backstom at the point, that should have been picked off.....but THEN....they try to set up OV....REALLY???  THe pass was not there....they needed that puck on NET....RIGHT THEN....

The expansion draft was a "Vote for Rory" and John Scott debacle on steroids.  This league is beyond a joke in so many ways.  The next thing you know they will expand again to another non hockey city like Seattle or something crazy like that rather than consider a Canadian city with rabid fans....oh wait....

 The sequence 30 seconds before the BRUTAL attempted OV set up......that was really bad. Think it was a ill-advised pass to Carlson at the other point. That could have been picked and gone the other way into the open net....you just don't take that kinda chance....but the pass to OV....WOW...that is/was unforgivable....ON NET....get the rebound.....WTF!!
