Yeah, that's more important for sure. We often presume that because he's a College player he's necessarily a smart player. But you never know.

Exactly, just think about how many moronic college kids are out there today.

Some rumors swirling around tonight that Joel Farabee will leave Boston University and sign his ELC this week. If true, playing in the NHL or AHL this season would NOT burn a year off his ELC. Farabee's contract would 'begin' starting next season.

Can confirm, as @frank_seravalli just reported, Joel Farabee will leave Boston University and sign his entry-level contract with the #Flyers.

Sweet all those guys leaving I am sure played a factor in it too.

So it will be nice if he gets a game in to end the season once the are eliminated and I hope Phantoms make the playoffs so he can help them on a playoff run!

Not looking good which sucks because some of those kids need that experience.

Yeah I agree.

Which makes me wonder if they offer Gordon the job back this offseason.

It's where I think he needs to be the AHL.

Smart move by him.  Lots of talent coming in this year and next.  Best for him to stay another year (or maybe two).

This would also be a move so he could become a free agent after next year to....not that huge of a loss but he would have a good bit of competition ahead of him too.

He may want to opt to go somewhere else who knows.

#WBSPens defeat Providence in regulation, which means #LVPhantoms within six points of 4th place for final playoff spot in the Atlantic Division.

1 CHA 98 pts (8 GR)

2 BST 86 pts (8 GR)

3 PRO 79 pts (8 GR)

4 HER 79 pts (9 GR)

_____________

5 WBS 76 pts (8 GR)

6 LV 73 pts (9 GR)

I sure would like some playoffs for these kids.

Nice to see Laberge bust out in last night's win.

If he can fight his way back into the prospect conversation with a good year next year for the Phantoms that could be huge.

Laberge, Rubtsov, Vorobyev, Frost, Farabee, Strome, Twarynski, Ratcliffe, Kase and maybe Sushko should give them a solid 10 forwards to fill out the Phantom ranks next year.

And that doesn't even include Bunnaman , Allison or Laczynski yet even.

I can't remember how many AHL vet guys they must sign to meet requirements but this is the first time in like forever where i wish that rule wasn't in place so they could fill it with kids.

Sadly Laberge had become the forgotten prospect so i am pulling for the kid to get back on the map.

So a lineup like this maybe:

Farabee Frost Kase

Ratcliffe Laberge Mcdonald

Rubtsov Vorobyev Allison

Strome Bunnaman Laczynski

-----------------------------------------------------

Goulbourne Vecchione Varone

That is some sick depth. It has to be playoffs or bust next year.

Brennan Wylie

Schlemko Willcox

Macdonald Ginning??

Samuelsson Hogberg??

Sandstrom

Ustimenko

That is some crazy depth to have stashed away.

Vecchione is a UFA so not sure if he’ll resign.

Great at depth on the pipeline!

Yeah he may not i was going to try and bring him back as a vet type option instead of a Chris Connor type since he will actually be 27 by mid season of next year.

However he may want to go somewhere else too since he never got a call up in Philly, and Philly won't miss him much hell Danick Martel was actually more productive than he was.

Just a thought on offering him a contract since they have to have a few vets.

It's strange.  First time in a long time that the strength of the Phantoms is at forward instead of defense.

Your post got me curious about Zamula and whether he was AHL-bound next year.

He isn't. But, man, is he ever thriving.

18 years old, 6'3", 165# (gotta put on some meat!).

61 GP, 10g, 46a, 56 pts.

Leading scorer among defensemen by far (next closest D has 33 pts). Sixth overall on the team - would probably be 3rd if he played the same number of games as the top two forwards.

For some comparison, when Sanheim was his age, he put up 67 GP, 15g, 50a, 65 pts.

Very similar development curves.
