The Islanders still are looking for a head coach. Whichever team hires Trotz they will need to pay more $$$$$ as Coaches such as Quennville and Babcock make $5-6 M. In winning the team's first Gagarin Cup, Keenan became both the first North American coach to win a KHL championship and the first coach to win both the Gagarin Cup and the Stanley Cup. On October 17, 2015, Keenan was fired by Magnitogorsk. On March 16, 2017, Keenan was announced as the new head coach of HC Kunlun Red Star, the KHL's first Chinese based team. Washington's front office and Trotz didn't get along and they already were positioning to replace him no matter the outcome. IMO, Trotz knew he wasn't going to be back so he left on his own accord instead of drawing it out any longer than it needed to be. This is more on Washington IMO than the coach...
