pilldoc
Wow... 3 years is a risk IMO. I would think a 2 year deal would be in order to make sure he dosen't pull another stunt like he did before.

Yeah the term is the concern for me, he is 35 and in decline but still a hell of a goal scorer. From an pure X and O's standpoint it is a perfect landing spot, the Kings were unbelievably top heavy with almost all their scoring coming from one line until Carter came back then it became more like a line and a half. I wrote they needed middle six help desperately, he certainly at the least provides that with the potential for more. Term/money a bit high but that is what happens when you go after free agents. Hey it get it the window is still slightly cracked. They are going for it. Blake is a gambler. We'll see if it reaps reward. The West is a battle now with so many good deep teams. Kings Redeem LA
Initially I'm shaking my head at this move. I get the idea about trying to catch Cup again while a window appears open, especially when the Kings weren't exactly a playoff lock on everyone's list last time 'round, but I just don't think that Kovalchuk = the financial move or the guy. Consider how little space Vegas defense gave in the playoffs. Does signing him really address such an important consideration? If this risky action doesn't get LA a Cup before his birthday #38, look for it to complicate the likely rebuild's that's gonna hit Tinsel Town soon(ish). Hockey-78
I think this is a gamble that won't pay off. I even doubt he'll be around for the whole three seasons.
Hockey-78
The last 10 games without a point, -7 in that span, lately playing 4th line minutes. Russia, here I come aye?!
