Another young, fast team coming to St. Paul to take on the Wild.  Minnesota didn't do so well the first two times we played a club like that.  Can they stay with the Hurricanes or will they be blown away?  MNSOTA wrote up the game preview, I'll write up the post-gamer.

Definitely another good measuring stick game for Minnesota, despite the fact that it's an Eastern team.

I've actually seen the Canes play live at the X many times over the past few seasons (always seemed to get tickets whenever they were in town for some reason!), and usually, the Wild handle them pretty well due to Carolina not having a particularly potent offense.

Well, this year, at least early on, these Canes are quite different than those Carolina teams of the past and will be much faster and certainly more dangerous on the attack.

Actually, I liken this team to the one the Wild just got done playing, the Blackhawks, (again, to this point) in terms of attacking and defending...…… that is to say, a red hot offense with an average defensive style, which hopefully, the Wild can take advantage of.

I believe Curtis McElhinney gets the start today for Carolina, and he has been the better goalie (Petr Mrazek being the second), however, McElhinney, career wise, is FAR from unbeatable, as he has been up n down throughout his tenure in the NHL.

Game will simply come down to execution on defense by the Wild to contain the fast hungry Canes forwards, and making good on any and all chances that will present themselves on offense.
If Minnesota lets the Carolina attack get into a rhythm, McElhinney will feel comfortable and will play better..... if the Wild can keep pressure on the goalie, while containing Hurricane's forwards, McElhinney may try to do too much and be subject to leaving holes in his net.

Professional execution boys.
Name of the game today.

Go Wild!

Strange that you mention that. I too had season ticket holding friends who'd be happy to unload a ducat or two whenever the Canes were in town. Back in those days (before the last lockout) it seemed like every game was a 2-1 yawnfest with not nearly enough shooting: kinda like the first two games this season.

Would really like to see BB roll with the same lines from the CHI game tonight (and for the next several games to come) Any time the good guys can get 40+ shots and create skirmishes in front of the net, I'm happy and greatly entertained regardless of the final score. On the other hand, 13 shots on goal after two periods is enough to make one say "OK, guys, which channel has pro wrestling on?"

Hoping for another noisy evening at the watering hole (Thursday was a blast) Might hop back online later in the game, and will definitely check in for LIG/Sota's post gamer. Love those prospect updates at the end, because I don't follow minors/juniors like I did in the good old 1980s. Keep 'em coming!

@MNSOTA what you have it's Chicken Lo Mein with Mongolian beef for me

I bought a bunch of soup mixes from World Market. Tonight it is a beef, mushroom, and barley soup. Pretty tasty. Only thing is I wished I had NOT used the salt-free beef broth. I thought if I had used regular beef broth it would have been overly salty because those mixes are always laden with sodium. Or perhaps, I could have lightly salted the stew meat and mushrooms when I sauteed them before adding the water, broth, and soup mix.
