Greetings:

Apparently the bookies are scratching their heads on this matchup:

We are certainly better over our last 10 games.  Chicago puts up more shots but scores fewer goals.

Hopefully we build on the last few games' success.  We are probably witnessing the end of the road for Chicago's Cup core, but you can't count them out.

We have done well against the team historically; home ice matters a lot:

Who knew the first week of October Scott Laughton would be right behind Simmer for the lead in goals and tied with Giroux with 6.

And leading all forwards with +3!

Not i sir.

Flyers have given up a power play goal in 9 straight games this year. Terrible. It would be nice to stop this trend.

This has the potential to be a trap game.

Flyers 5-4-1

Blackhawks 3-6-1

So i hope they come prepared to play and i don't mean down to the level of competition.

Let's go Flyers get this 2 points!!!!!!

Greetings:

Here is a more recent bookie take on the game, installing us as favorites:

https://accuscore.com/hockey/nhl-picks/11-10-2018/chicago-blackhawks-philadelphia-flyers-248

If I believe their statistical model, Kane and Giroux cancel each other out with an expected point apiece.  But our supporting squad is considerably better.  I agree with Occ we can't play down to these folks.

So, do we get the team that played very well during the first period against Arizona, or what came the next period, or late third or OT?

I'd be very surprised to see that. So far both his skating and puck handling doesn't look worthy of a goal.

Told you Manning would score, it was just in his own net LOL

I wouldn't say the Flyers are particularly impressive in this game, but, bottom line is, they ARE winning....but I will give them this:

Brian Elliot...he of the streaky hot n cold runs.... looks quite sharp today.

Say what you want about Chicago's season and team, but they STILL have some players who can put pucks to the net, and Elliot has stopped them all so far...and looked darned good doing it too.

As of this posting, he has stopped all 29 shots with about 4 min to play.

How many wins will it take before Philly fans embrace their team?

I think the "team" IS embraced by your crowd..... most just don't care much for how they are currently constructed or who is calling the shots behind the bench.

Much like the big Wild contingent on this site, ya love'm when they win, ya hate'm when they lose....but I think it is fair to say most all Flyer fans DO embrace their team....doesn't mean there aren't a bunch of things that can be fixed on it though...

On way back to New York after the game:

elliot was immense in goal today and giroux just does what he does best. Any other day tho and we would have lost that game and not won by the comfortable margin we did. Defensively we sometime look all over the place and that could be the downfall. Happy for the win tho.

hopefully won’t be my last game I see live also
