yave1964
Is this Deja vu? The Penguins and Stars just did a deal trading Jamie Oleksiak for a 4th round pick. Here is the funny part, it is the same pick that they traded Oleksiak for 13 months ago. So essentially they just canceled out the trade. It is Schroedingers Trade, if a player is traded for a pick and then traded back for the same pick, was there actually a hockey trade? The move was made necessary for the Stars who are struggling to stay in the race because Marc Methot is going to miss the rest of the season leaving the Dallas blueline dangerously thin. Pittsburgh on the other hand is getting ready to activate Schultz leaving them 9 healthy defenders and Oleksiak was the odd man out.
JR Ewing
@yave1964 This is a bit like in 1964, when Cleveland traded Harry Chiti to the Mets for a player to be named later, but when he hit only .195, they sent him back. He was literally traded for himself. Mind you, when Eddie Shore was owner of the Springfield Indians, he once traded a player for nets, and was angered when he found out the other team sent him used equipment, and not new. Besides Chiti and Noles I think it has happened once or twice as well in baseball. That isn't quite what this was with Oleksiak as he spent a bit over a year in Pittsburgh but to my memory it is as close as it has ever happened in Hockey. yave1964
I know Lupul was traded TWICE for Chris Pronger I think there have been a few of those in the NHL but that is the one that comes to mind.

With Shultz getting ready to return, Petterson playing well and Rikkola having a very good break out season, Jammie was already the odd man out.
