Taken by themselves, any of these measures can be explained away by other factors, but three guys (Gudas, Ghost, and Sanheim) consistently show up in the top half of the Flyers' defenders.

You can thank the nurturing care and training Andrew Macdonald has show them...without him these kids wouldn't be any good.

He has spent countless hours showing these kids the right way to to sharpen their craft!!!

Here here Farmer!!!!

None of this is to say "Ghost sucks!  Get rid of him!"   But I'll positively compare Sanheim to Ghost all day every day.   If both and Provorov are all still here for the expansion draft and I can only protect two, it's Provorov and Sanheim for me without blinking.

No doubt about it.

I like Meyer's game.

He is aggressive everywhere on the ice.

Guy really looks good to me every time I see him play...love that he ragged Hornqvist a couple of times, even when 72 made a nice move 61 recovered quickly.

He looks to affect the game. I dig that.

Plus, he's big and plays like it.

Love his confidence.

So i am guessing Morin and Myers are the 7th and 8th D men??

You'd guess wrong. Morin will be our 9th goalie...once they get Talbot free from Border Security.

What is a defenseman's job?   To prevent shots/goals.   Fewest unblocked shots against/60 5v5 minutes: MacDonald Gudas Gostisbehere Sanheim   Fewest Goals: Gudas Hagg Ghost Sanheim   Fewest overall shot attempts against/60: Sanheim Gudas Ghost   Fewest high danger (slot) shots against: Gudas Sanheim Provorov Ghost   Taken by themselves, any of these measures can

Dear god.    Don't trade Ghost. His value is low, and his contract is more than manageable. You're not going to get anything approaching value, and the screaming when he's back to what he was last year will be maddening. Let him hang out with Hart's sports psychiatrist. See if you can fix him in the offseason.   Especially don't trade him for an expiring UFA.    Isn't this what we bitched about Homer and Clarke doing? Giving up on young players after one disappointi

It could be Gudas. He's the guy I'd be least interested in trading among our options. We don't have another physical guy who can intimidate and make opponents pay the price. He's like a freaking tree trunk.   Yes, we have Morin, but I need to see him play actual hockey first before we can have any realistic expectation that he can be that guy. He's a FULL season away from even being an effective, comfortable blueliner in the NHL, I'd say. Same with Myers, though that doesn't seem to be

Well the only other option is Hagg in that regard because Gudas is but he is also a right hand shot.   And you will never seen Mcduds and defensively responsible in the same sentence so he is out.   So it will have to be....     Ivan/Sanheim Ghost/Gudas Hagg/Myers   With Mcdud on the popcorn machine where he belongs.
