Has Scott Gordon done enough to be retained at the Flyers Head Coach for the 2019-2020 Season?

Babcock wasnt too worried about Toronto winters.  Canada is expensive too.  Matthews was there but Toronto wasnt, and still isnt, a well structured team.  There was a lot of intrigue to go there though because its the leafs.

I'm just sick of this franchise.  They've really done nothing to get fans excited for at least 5 years now (thanks Hexy).  Poor Giroux just wasted the prime of his career playing for a team that had no intentions of making a splash.  Nothing is on the horizon either.

 

I know hey everyone has different goals and in Qs case his career is winding down he already has 3 Cups so Florida is for retirees so when he gets fired he doesn't have to move again.

 

Yeah as far as thanks Hextall yeah a lot of people bust ol Homer's balls when he was a GM but he had 6 playoff series wins is his 3 years more than Hextall had in his 5.

 

And yeah neither have Cups but man Homer's seemed so much more competitive and fun.

 

I'm sure this will elicit all the Homer yahdah yahdah and Hextall yahdah yahdah back from someone in 3, 2, 1...

Face it .... He was never coming here. He wanted to be reunited with Tallon and live in a vacation paradise year round.   That is why when he was let go in Chicago and did not immediately sign with the Flyers.  He probably knew there was going to be an opening in the sunny state of Florida.

 

This team is screwed if they cannot find the right coach this offseason ......

Regarding the coaching,   If the plan is to hire one of these retread losers. I have an idea, let's keep the loser we have. I don't think any of these guys is an upgrade over Gordon with the exception of maybe AV. So for my money I would rather see an up and comer from a major Canadian junior team or let's just keep rolling with Gordon.

 Bruce Boudreau's 4th stop in 6 years isn't going to produce any serious winning. And I like him hes a fun dude to drink a beer with.

I was kind of thinking the same thing as I was typing my response above.  I'm really not thrilled with any of the choices.  At which point Gordo would be better than those has-beens.   The Flyers made their bed...now they have to lie in it ..... so pissed off at this team / FO.

This is not a coach issue. The personnel on the ice is just not good enough, nor do they seem to care. Sad when the worst attended team in the league can out appeal you. Am I ranting now? Let Gritty be the coach, he seems to be the only one in the entire organization who gives a f*&#.

IF I have to choose among those two I would certainly go with AV.

 

He lead the Canucks and Rangers too the finals and yeah I know Bylsma lead the Pens to a win but so did the guy who replaced him.

 

So I go with AV if I have to pick those guys.

 

I would rather give Sheldon Keefe the chance over those folks.

 

Or I would rather a guy like Dave Tippett.

At this point his systems might be the type of structure these kids need.

 

And the reason his teams were ZZZzzzz is he didn't have any talent to produce much.

 

In Philly he would have the horses.

 

Now can he get them to play the way he wants?

 

Well that is a different question.

 

Guys like Jake and JVR might have to be shipped out eventually but I can live with that.

He's able to win with a stacked Marlies team (AHL). He was a good coach/ turnaround specialist in juniors.

Bought a team turned it around.  Went to Saulte St Marie and turned that team around.  Proven winner at every level. 

Back up the Comcast/Brinks truck and  dump its contents on his driveway.

 

NHL job, good hockey market, big daddy comcast bucks...make this happen Chuck.

He turned Sault Ste. Marie around in one year his second year he set a franchise record for best season in their history.

 

He won an OHL championship for Erie as a player.

 

He would have win an OHL title as a coach I think and maybe a Memorial Cup or two if it wasn't for McDavid twice.

 

I would be ok with him if they rolled the dice.

 

However I want him to hire his own staff and I would love for him to help select a head coach for the Phantoms too.

And I really like that he is a former player.

 

It helps I think. I want him to help guide the next staff for the Phantoms too.

 

It's important to have the same type of system in place for both clubs.

Funny he was announced to Philly and then recended...I guess the Flyers blew their chance then.

 

I'm sure it made him reconsider it especially since he stated he wanted to wait till the offseason to decide for sure.

I don't think he was wrong honestly.

 

I think they had a handshake agreement for after the season and Q wanted to keep it under wraps till the offseason.

 

Word got out and I think that made him reconsider and say nah I don't want any part of this cracker Jack club.

 

If they lied to me about keep it a secret what else will they lie to me about.

 

Now I'm sure we will never know but I feel it is highly likely.
