Looks like the Brayden Schenn's trade tree is beginng to show signs of blossom, how long till he and Frost bare fruit?

He lead BU in points and goals his freshman year. One and done.

Kid has some good sniper skills the Flyers need.

And we see some amazing visison.

Now we'll see where this leads...

Flyers need to win the lottery.

How sweet would a line of Farabee, Frost, and Kakko look?

Even if they took Hughes and Frost went to right wing.

Farabee, Hughes, and Frost.

I like the Kakko look better, but I'll take either.

Early in the season, when the Avs were firing on all cylinders, I thought it might be possible to snag the 1st overall pick from them - if the Sens win the lottery - for our 1st and one of our defensemen.

But now that they are a bubble team, I'm not sure they're dealing that pick unless it's a big overpayment.

Yeah, no way they trade it.

So, we'll have to steal it with a ping pong ball.

I don't imagine the Kings or Wings would be willing to deal, either.  I'd really be okay with the second pick.  I'm thinking someone takes Hughes and then we'd get Kakko, who'd be my target anyway.

Nope. So if no deal is really feasible to move up, maybe the Flyers look to move the pick in a trade for a 2C or top 6 RW.

Farabee, Frost, Allison sounds pretty good.

I like the sound of this but first things first Allison needs to sign his entry level contract.

From what i had seen he was seeing a specialist about his knee again. I don't like the sound of this because he is certainly a sniper/power forward the Flyers could use in the future.

I hope it's nothing serious. Don't forget Laczynski is a center RW too. So who knows when he will sign either.

Right now i would expect Farabee to steal the 3rd line LW spot for the start of next year....until he otherwise shows me he is NOT ready.

His ability to put the puck in the net will convince whom ever the coach is then that he can in fact work on the rest of his game in the NHL....just my opinion on it.

So i guess camp/preseason will determine it all...worse case he gets sent down to play the season in the AHL but can be called up to help out/get a look at and as long as he doesn't play 10 games his contract doesn't start till 2020-21.

Now folks need to keep in mind that counts next year's playoffs if they make it too. Say he stays down all next year.

The Phantoms make the playoffs but get eliminated in the second.

The Flyers are in the playoffs those 10 games still count as far as burning a year so as long as he doesn't play 10 games his contract will still slide.

Point being is he could be a nice break glass in case of emergency type of help if need be.

So long as we wait until after the lottery.

  • 2 weeks later...

Farabee making the big squad could be a huge boost come next year. I hope he hits the weights real hard this offseason and comes in prepared to play...which i think he will.

"You can just tell from the way that he plays that you're getting an unbelievable kid who works his butt off every shift and isn't going to go away," the U.S. under-18 head coach said last week in a phone interview with NBC Sports Philadelphia. "He just won't be denied. There was never a question from scouts as to any of that."

"If he needs some seasoning in Lehigh, that happens with a lot of really strong prospects, but it also wouldn't surprise me when the Flyers have him in their opening night lineup next October," Wroblewski said. "He gets on the ice and coaches love him. He does so many things and so quickly to gain the coach's trust. The puck advances when he's out there and his skill set is sneaky. … It won't be long in the American League if he does start there.

"I would be amazed if he wasn't in the NHL full-time by the end of next year."

"He has a versatile skill set — he's got a speed game, he's gritty and he's skilled. Really a perfect player to scale up and down a lineup," Wroblewski said. "When the Flyers go to training camp and when he gets the call to play in the NHL, it might start off as a fourth-line player but he can scale down in your lineup and play that fourth-line role or he can move up into the middle lines and earn a coach's trust, that he's good enough to play on a top line, too.

"The puck just follows him and when he wants to advance it, it goes the direction he wants it to go in. His game is loud and he's electric and he's got a great stick, as well. He's a very unique prospect."

"If he has a slight frame, that could be a knock on him but he's hockey strong," Wroblewski said. "That's kind of a force that is a little bit misunderstood sometimes by people outside the game. You can have a slight frame, and as long as you've got that unbelievable balance and skating ability on your edges, it doesn't affect you to be light."

I wish him luck. Flyers can use his scoring touch.

@OccamsRazor

That's a promising looking bunch of bluster. I hope Wroblewski ( awesome name) is right.

On draft night I was more impressed with the demeanor of Jay O'Brien, I still think that kid is going to turn some heads once he gets healthy. Watching him play for team USA he seems like the kind of player some of our older and grumpier fans will dig. He's in your sweater, he's always around the puck, even though he's not a big guy he plays like he is plus he's a straight burner.

I think between those two guys we've got some quality players to look forward to for sure.

I liked both those picks last draft.

Farabee was a guy I was hoping would be available to us. I didn't know much about O'Brien, but after Hextall had several years of multiple picks it was good timing for a "swing for the fences" pick. Obviously injuries have slowed down his progress (much like Patrick/Laberge/Rubstov) but you can see the skill there.

He also had a rough transition from high school competition to the college level.

That might take a year or two.

Joel on the other hand is very seasoned coming up in the ranks of US hockey

55 games in the Selects hockey academy U16.

30 games in the USHL

42 games on the USDP U17

22 games on the USDP U18

26 games on the USNTDP juniors team

62 games on US National U18 C team

15 games on WJC U18 squad

7 games UDA U20 team

37games in the NCAA where he lead all rookies in scoring.

So this kid has had a different path.

JOB needs more seasoning and time to grow.

I hate his team is playing for the national title game on 04/11 and he might miss it.

I have seen any reports lately but i hope he gets to play in it.

Would be an awesome experience for him

And Farabee will get his shot and even if he has to start in the AHL i wouldn't be upset i want what is best for the team and the kid.

I think at this moment he is more advanced than TK and Patrick.

I honestly think once he makes it to the NHL he could be shifted to the wing which wouldn't be a bad thing if that is what it takes.
