Denver freshman goalie Filip Larsson has signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Detroit Red Wings, forgoing his last three years of NCAA eligibility.
The contract is set to begin with the 2019-20 season.

Larsson went 13-6-3 with a 1.95 GAA and a .932 save percentage with four shutouts for the Pioneers.

The Red Wings’ sixth round selection (167th overall) in the 2016 NHL Draft shined for the Pioneers in the postseason, starting in six of Denver’s seven games with a 4-2-0 record, 1.12 GAA, .962 save percentage and three shutouts.

Larsson was twice named NCHC Goalie of the Week, tabbed NCHC Goalie of the Month for December, selected for the NCHC All-Rookie Team, was a finalist for NCHC Goalie of the Year and was a co-recipient of the Pioneers’ Bill Masterton Award for Team MVP.

My condolences on Calgary.  Very disappointing.  I fire the coach.  No reason for them to lose 4 in a row after winning game 1 4-0

@Brewin Flames

Larsson and Keith Petruzzelli are considered  something of goalie prospects for the Wings which is good, we have had years of Harri Sateri and his ilk playing at the A, Howard and Bernier aren't really the answer, more of a stop gap at this point and it would be nice to develop a nice young cheap tandem for 20-21.I love watching AHL Hockey, looking forward to seeing Larsson in person next year.
