Just when you thought you'd heard the last of Mr. Douchebag himself...was just listening to the Fourth Period on the Fan590 and apparently Sean Avery has been suspended by the Rangers AHL farm team for spitting on their coach.

can you get demoted in the AHL

filth is just.............FILTH

No wonder Canada abandoned him with the Blueshirts. "Send him down south, he'll fit right in, there!"

How come the Blackhawks don't pick him up. He and Carcillo could be roommates on the road, and tear the place up like a Van Halen concert. (Nevermind his knee surgery, of course)

Sean Avery has made mistakes in his career, but according to the Rangers, spitting on his AHL coach isn’t one of them.

Avery was scratched

from the Connecticut Whale’s lineup Friday night for disciplinary reasons, Deadspin.com reported a rumor that

Avery had been benched for spitting on Whale coach Ken Gernander

The Rangers said Saturday that Avery did not spit on Gernander, or anyone for that matter, but otherwise would not discuss the specifics of his infraction.

“Try not to BELIEVE everything u read,” Avery posted on his Twitter account,

, at 1:23 p.m. Saturday. “Gentlemen don’t spit.”

Avery is in his second stint with the Whale this season after being assigned the club on Dec. 31, just before the Winter Classic.

The New York Post reported Thursday morning that

Rangers GM Glen Sather had rejected a request

by an unnamed NHL club to place Avery on re-entry waivers, offering instead to trade Avery in a minor-league deal that would save the Blueshirts money. The report said there is at least one other NHL club prepared to claim Avery if he is placed on re-entry waivers.

For now, the 31-year-old Avery continues to toil in the minors.

“Amazing how if I do speak it gets me in trouble…more amazing how not speaking gets me in more trouble!” Avery tweeted at 2:03 p.m. on Saturday.
