Brandt Clarke & a chip off the ol' block

Went to the Colts game last night and got to see 16 year old defenceman Brandt Clarke play. He's 6'1" and about 180, skates very well and has the IQ of a 30 year old veteran. The kid was all over the ice last night, pinching in when Barrie fell behind early but seeming to know when to get the heck out. I swear he looks almost as good as Ekblad at that age but Clarke looks like he's 16 whereas Ekblad had a full beard at 15.  He finished preseason leading Barrie in scoring with 10 points in 6 games.

As for the "chip"...Barrie also has Vinnie Prospal playing for them...ON D! And he looks exactly like the ol' man. Skates as well too. And for those who want even more nostalgia...Vic Hadfield...grandson....also plays for Barrie and had a great game. Great wheels and a tenacious penalty killer.

Pretty fun watching this kid develop. After a tough stretch he's been putting up points on a regular basis and has shown up in the 3 star selection several times lately. Barrie traded off several vets at the deadline and fired interim coach Warren Rychel. They've been on fire since then, with a very young team and just turned 17 Brandt Clarke being one of the leaders.

At this point he's my pick to go 1st overall in the 2021 draft. He does pretty much everything well and plays a very intelligent game. If he gets a little more physical as he fills out he could be a real gem.

Captain Clarke had Hamilton Bulldogs players in his face all night last night. They tried staying in his shooting lanes and constantly roughed him up. They "held" him to 1 g 3 a in a 6-3 Colts win. The price for any chance of trading for this kid just keeps going up and up.
