A handful of teams with high expectations have started slowly, to put it mildly, the Devils, Stars, Wild and Sharks all got off to slow starts.

The question is this: Which if any of them will recover and save their season? The case for and against.

DEVILS

Case for: Same as in the preseason, Subban on the back end Hughes on the top line, other skilled players now in the mix, the hope was they would be competitive.

The case against: Goaltending is awful and lack of depth on the back end. Oh, and while Subban is glitz, he is more shadow than substance many nights.

WILD

The case for: Veteran team committed to a playoff push, Donato expected to play a key role, Dumba healthy.

The case against: Skill level very low almost everywhere on the roster, hamstrung by the Parise/Suter signings for years to come.

STARS

case for: Perry and Pavelski added to a team that lost in overtime in game 7 to eventual cup winning Blues. Hintz expected to take next step.

Case against: too many old and slow veterans on the back nine at a time when the league is going young and fast the Stars added Perry, Sekera and Pavelski.

SHARKS

Case for: Any team with Karlsson/Burns on the back end and guys like Hertl/Meier/Kane/Couture at forward needs to be in the conversation.

Case against: Jones is ordinary in net, They lost Pavelski, Braun, Nyquist and Donskoi with inexperienced kids taking their place who will be punching above their weight class all year

So of those four teams, which of them will turn it around and be in the hunt? Will they all fall short?

My personal vote, if only one turns it around is the Sharks. I think the Wild need a complete overhaul, the Devils had a very overrated offseason and the Stars might turn it around but have too many thirty somethings to do it every night.
