I think a lot of pro sporting events have gone from being about the game to "spectacles" where the crowd has to be entertained with gimmicks. And the corporate crowd doesn't help. Or the fact that so many people can't stop staring at their smartphones.
It also takes the fun out when you need a 2nd mortgage to take the family to a friggin game.
Of course winning helps.
I've only ever been to one CFL game...compared to about a dozen NFL games. It was the 100th anniversary Grey Cup and the tickets were free. I know there's not much comparison between the two. The face value of the tickets though, were $100...compared to what...10 grand for Super Bowl tickets? (ok, slight exaggeration) And there's no Kardashians...just Skatch fans by the truckload, even though their team isn't playing. They're way more fun.
I'm 2/3 through a nine hour layover at Pearson-Tronno. Half the passengers coming off the plane this morning were wearing Leafs stuff.
I'm rocking the O&B at the airport bar with my new Flyers hat from HHOF
Also had my pic taken with the Cup bcs the 7374 and 7475 Flyers panel was facing the right way.
