I, of course, don't share any of the memories you have of your old site, the mass exodus here, or some of the nutty characters you guys/gals knew over the years, but I CAN say I certainly am glad for this site as I was a wandering ethernet soul at the time I discovered this place (Nov 2013....which makes me a 6 yr vet here now) and have made it my hockey home. I had been a part of ESPN's message boards (they were awful...I learned to take my bans like a big girl there! Hah!), then bounced around a few smaller sites, usually not sticking around due to the clientele or they simply went the way of the Dodo bird. One particular site, which I modded for, was called The Fanatic dot net, that was a great general sports site, I liked the posters there and in fact, the owner of that site, seemed very much like @hf101 is here...meaning cool, down to earth, and wanting a simple place away from the "corporate sites" where people can just hang out and jaw about sports topics without ads, pop ups, and trolls. In fact, when I discovered this place, I thought I might have re-found that same owner after interacting with HF a bit, but no, wasn't the same guy, as that previous owner was more about baseball and football. The Fanatic owner just decided one day he didn't want to run the site anymore, let it lapse/license expire, and that made me a sad forum orphan left to wander around. Well, anyways, that is my lil anniversary tale. Want to thank all here, not just staff, for molding this place into what it is and special thanks to HF and @Digityman too I believe, for not only starting this and accepting me in, but having faith enough in me to make me part of the staff. Oh, and although I don't share the memories you have of philly.com, I most certainly enjoyed reading what you guys posted about it..... I have similar memories of the ESPN boards and of another place called prosportsdaily (they might still exist) what with all the people there more for aggravating others and just being general clowns rather than for sports.
