Senators own Sharks potential lottery pick

Remember last season when the Senators were a train wreck, worrying if their first that they had traded to the Avalanche for Duchene would turn into the first pick in the upcoming draft? The skate is on the other foot now.

As part of the return for Erik Karlsson from the Sharks, they received the unprotected first round pick from San Jose in this years draft. The Sharks stumbled out of the gate, righted themselves for a bit but a combo of wretched goaltending and inconsistent offense have the Sharks sitting in 12th place in the West going into tonights game against the Coyotes and Taylor Hall.

Ottawa is actually a lot of fun to watch this year if you enjoy young spirited but enormously raw mistake prone hockey, which I actually do., Lots of kids, lots of picks upcoming in the 2020 draft including the steal of a second rounder from the Jackets (Dzingel as a rental to Columbus for a second and Anthony Duclair, ouch) and the first rounder from San Jose being the two to keep an eye on.

it is a question of if the Shark pick or Ottawa's own pick will be higher. San Jose fired their coach in hopes of turning the season around but the Sens are rooting hard for whoever the Sharks play every night same as Colorado did last year to them.
