CreaseAndAssist
2021 NHL Expansion Draft, What Are the Minnesota Wild to do? Some thoughts... @IllaZilla wrote up this article discussing some of the possible scenarios and tough choices the Minnesota Wild will possibly have with Seattle's addition to the NHL. Some great food for thought here. Enjoy and discuss!
flyercanuck
@CreaseAndAssist A lot of teams are going to have some thinking to do. Flyers got off lucky in the LV expansion, because they didn't have the depth. Won't be so lucky this time.

No doubt...although Vegas won't have to worry about it apparently.

Vegas isn't getting a slice of Seattle's $650M entry fee either though, so there's that...
lynxrattle
Dumba, Soucy or Brodin probable goners come expansion draft. That's a hard decision. Right now I'd rather keep Brodin and Soucy.

Maybe Fiala, but he'll get protected. But who knows. Things can change in a year. Players improve or get injured, trades are made. It will certainly be interesting... Tomdog
Will soucy be considered a 3rd year player?

So he will not be covered by the 1st-2nd Year Player Exemption unfortunately.
Tomdog
That's not good, I thought it went by games played per season.

There is a games played requirement, but that is for who must be exposed. It’s to prevent teams from just exposing their AHL roster and keeping their NHLers protected. IllaZilla
Based on Russo’s mailbag (he actually answered my question!) it does not sound like a done deal that Koivu gets an extension for the 2020-21 season. That could change things up a bit... Edited January 9, 2020 by IllaZilla
