TropicalFruitGirl26
Calgary seemed content to just play "prevent" about 10 game minutes ago, and the Wild simply are unable to crack that defensive shell the Flames are playing in. Chances, but no conversions has been the story. Now looks like BB is gonna have 6 skaters. This probably won't go well.
TropicalFruitGirl26
Well, Minnesota did better than I thought they would with zone time and possession with the extra attacker, but end result was still a loss. Team was game, but Calgary, with a bit of luck on their side, pull out yet another win against the Wild. Real tough week coming up for Minnesota starting Sunday.. Home vs Vancouver Road at Pittsburgh Then back home for a pair against the Lightning and Stars.
CreaseAndAssist
Inconsistent Effort Dooms Wild in 2-1 Loss to Calgary Too many passengers in a game where you really have to win. At times it looked like we just didn't have any energy. The Wild's best line tonight was the 4th line. Dumba was certainly taking every chance he could to shoot the puck but he's just desperate for a goal. Stalock played well enough and gave the Wild a chance to win in a game where they perhaps didn't quite deserve it. The two misses that hurt the most...Staal's shot off the post, Zuccarello's shot to the side of the goal...and Hartman's failed redirection. Parise and Koivu didn't seem to have a lot of energy, just sort of going through the motions. That isn't good enough. Especially with another fairly long layoff before tonight's game. Even if they had a mandated furlough, you'd have to imagine they had lots of time to watch film and figure things out since Sunday. No excuse for getting outworked. This is a pretty ugly loss...now we're 7pts behind Calgary. I have a full game recap, an extended Iowa Wild report and prospect news too...

We lost 3 more additional possible points out of 2 games against a Calgary team. We had plenty of time to restore our energy, plenty of time to find out the weakest spots of that opposite team. Nice that the Wild team was able to put 42 shots towards the Flames net(I have seen that not very often from the Wild this season), but just one goal was way too minimal to make the fans and our standings better. Stalock made a primary assist to our single goal. Where were other players to make a win for us? Disappointing/frustrating game.
