I really don't get the devotion that some people have expressed for this "core" group that hasn't made it past the first round in seven years, has missed the playoffs in four of them, and "if the season ended today"* would be on the outside looking in.
"They beat the Cup Finalists in back to back games!" - if you think either of those teams were playing to their potential, I point you to Brad Marchand not even bothering to take the shootout seriously. Also, the Fly
Yawn. Very tired of the "the refs are so mean to us!" line of thinking. "The refs" aren't the reason the Flyers lost that game.
The game finished with four power plays apiece.
It probably doesn't need to be said that the Flyers were 0-4 on the power play.

Excellent assessment. There are no secrets or surprises, this team is what it is. With this core group, they aren't all of a sudden going to become bettwr than what they have been.
The bottom six is flawed and exposed. The veteran superstars, arent. And the young kids are not the answer.
Time to make significant changes and go in a new direction
