Islanders: Ilya Sorokin Records 55th Career Shutout In KHL

Recommended Posts

Ilya Sorokin has accomplished just about everything he can in the KHL. The New York Islanders 2014 third-round selection has been putting up video game numbers in the KHL for a half-decade at this point.

Yesterday, Sorokin recorded his 55th career shutout in the KHL.  That brings him to a .934 save percentage and a 1.54 goals against average on the season.

I like Sorokin and the Isles should take a serious hard look at bringing him over.

Just a thought, though - Mikko Koskinen (as it happens, former Isles property) was 1.99/.926 (1.64/.938 playoffs) over five years in the KHL. He's 2.98/.906 so far in the NHL.

Word is his KHL team is offering him large money to stay in Russia. NHL has a strict entry level contract so dont know how they would get around that...bonus? But cap on that also..no?

Outstanding prospect but not everyone wants to play in the NHL. He could be one of those guys who stays in the KHL for his entire career.
