It's OK. It's one of the classics:

1) don't get involved in a land war in Asia

2) never go in against a Sicilian when DEATH is on the line

3) the GA/60 stat is probably already giving you what you need

Much of the confusion stemmed from the fact that the same information is presented in different ways in different sections of the statistics (when I use Hockey Reference for example).

Sometimes they put GA/60. Other times they lump it in with the extended +/- data and just call it GA. Still, other times they call it oiGA. (On-Ice Goals Allowed). It's in different places depending on how they choose to present the data on that page.

So long story short, John Tavares currently has the distinction of "worst defensive player" on the Leafs and Timashov was the best.

Since it's easier to represent the data as GA/60 than as a percentage, it makes sense to just stick with that stat. So in terms of defence, looking at Corsi and looking at GA/60 should give a pretty accurate representation (especially within the same team) of who is pulling their weight defensively and who isn't. Toss in defensive zone starts as well if you like, and that's about it.  :)
