How do I know if I baked my skates correctly?

Hey,

I bought my first heat moldable hockey skates, and backed them. Are there any characteristics of the shoe that I can notice I have done it correctly?

Welcome to the site!

The boot will still feel stiff but should be somewhat comfortable on your foot.  It will still take several times of wearing them on the ice before they get broken in.

Stick a fork in one. If it comes back out clean, it's fully baked.

475 F, top rack with a little olive oil and garlic. Bake and brown both sides evenly for 2 hours on each side.

It's all in good fun, no harm intended. It's actually a bit of an inside joke among Flyer fans and a previous coach who like to use baked cake metaphors.

Anyway, welcome! Please accept my apologies

Sorry. I'd be a lot more helpful if I knew the actual answer.

I think the important question is, what's your lace count?

Exactly.

I'm just being playful and this is as much about entertaining the board as much as anything.  Years ago in a discussion of I don't know what--wasn't relevant to lace count, just typical fan exchange of opinions--wanted to prove their knowledge and my lack of it by demanding to know my lace count on my skates.   It became a running joke that actually has long ago died, but this thread seemed like a good opportunity to resurrect it.

Again, sorry, really not helpful to your question but sadly I really don't know.

Welcome to the board and good luck!
