yave1964 Posted September 29, 2020 Share Posted September 29, 2020 Look at this list, these are, IMHO the games best goalies 25 years old or younger, and almost to a man, all except for Demko they all play in the Metro. , Elvis, Sorokin, Shesterkin, Blackwood, Hart and Samsonov all in one divsion. Simply wow. I will say this, i dont expect any league leading goal scorers out of the Metro for the next decade, lol. The Candidates HART Had a damn solid season 24-13-3 2.43 goals against only 22. Followed it up with fine postseason. MERZLININS JACKETS The team was dead and buried before Elvis entered the building and turned their season around going 13-9-8 2.35 goals against. 25 years old. DEMKO CANUCKS 25 years old finally had his breakout moments in the postseason subbing for an injured Markstrom, now a very hot commodity SHESTERKIN RANGERS 24 years old, went 10-2 with a 2.35 goals against after his recall. SOROKIN ISLANDERS Considered the top goalie not playing in the NHL signed his ELC with the Islanders and is expected to claim the next this year. SAMSONOV CAPITALS Ran cup winning Holtby out, stealing the crease gojng 16-6-2 with a 2.53 goals against. Age 23. BLACKWOOD DEVILS Not as hyped as some of these guys but at 24 with a bad Devils team went 22-14-8 with a goals against of 2.77. You could make a case for Nedeljkovic of the Hurricanes who was a beast in the AHL and is a top prospect. Again, in the Metro. I didnt list him because while he has no job waiting for him as of now.
