Good Morning @yave1964!

Looks like we have a classic battle going on. This is a very close match which won’t be decided until the late hours of Sunday night. We were pretty evenly matched.... you currently have a slight edge in Skating Cats and I have a slight edge in Goalie Cats... Should be a fun 2 days! 😊

Good Luck my friend... (but not too much luck 😜)

I am in the middle of a tough stretch of opponents, I told Rux today that yours is the team I would consider the favorite or at the least on the short list. Good luck the next couple of days, been a nailbiter so far.

Appreciate the kind words but there is still a lot of hockey to be played.  Between Joe and yourself you are never easy teams to go against.  And good luck to you :) ......

Trade between Rux and Myself.

Sharknado acquires Robin Lehner and Brent Burns for Chychrun and Roslovic.

Roslovic is a C/RW who has been better than expected since moving to the Jackets and gets #1 C time. his FOW are a work in progress. Brent burns has fallen on hard times and is a downgrade from Chychrun, but has bounce back potential.

And of course, the idea that i could have both of the Vegas duo was too enticing to pass up, but now I am overloaded in net.

Anyone need a goalie?

My past couple mid-level moves recently have been about an attempt to reduce the goalie packed room and beef up--even incrementally--my skater categories.   I think it's likely too little, too late, but what the heck.

So,

This weekend (including this move)

Outgoing:  Igor Shesterkin, Alexander Georgiev, Brent Burnedout, Boone Jenner

Incoming:  Clayton Keller, Alec Martinez, Jakob Chychrun, and Jack Roslovic

Also grabbed Linus Ullmark off waivers to store him in the IR slot in case it helps later.

So, I started the weekend in goal with

Igor Shesterkin

Alexander Georgiev

Ilya Samsonov

Frederick Andersen

Calvin Petersen

And end with:

Frederick Anderson

Calvin Petersen

Ilya Samsonov

Linus Ullmark (IR)

Remains to be seen what effect this does or doesn't have on my team.

Also,  I'm not above moving Samsonov.  It may be a bridge too far to rely on only 2 goalies with the way the world is, but if you want to make it worth my while, hit me up.

Rux, you are only like 11 points out of a playoff spot. A single good week moves you up. Remember that year I snuck into 8th at the last second and won it all?

Yep!

No one is ever out until they're out.

But if I only get to 6th (it's 6th in this league now), I really need to be cheering for @yave1964 to win the President's trophy so I have a shot.  😎

Trade between myself and @ruxpin (SURPRISE!!)

Rux gets

Ryan O'Reilly

Ville Husso

Foil get

Brayden Schenn

Ilya Samsonov

Rux gets the faceoffs, I get a slight upgrade in other peripherals. Husso is claiming more of the net in St. Louis but Samsonov is back and I am hoping Vanecek either starts sucking or breaks a bone. Either is fine with me.

Man.....I dunno, Rux.
I think Yave got the better of the deal here.

Not so sure Binnington is ousted as the number one in St. Loowey just yet, so you gotta still look at Husso as a backup still.....and his numbers aren't sexy either.
Samsonov has a better shot at LEAST for a 50-50 share with Vanacek, if not claim the net for himself.
Sams' numbers are still good....certainly better than Husso's.

Even if both goalies end up backups, I'd still take Samsonov over Husso all day.

The forwards?
O'Reilly is ALWAYS a nice player.
But this season, he doesn't seem his 'usual self'.
Sure, he still has the FO numbers, but everything else seems rather pedestrian from him this year.

Schenn meanwhile, just continues to plug away and provide steady stats in several categories (Yave's specialty!).
On their BEST seasons and days, O'Reilly > B. Schenn..........however, Schenn wouldn't be that far behind overall anyways, and this season in particular, Schenn matches better than usual vs. O'Reilly.

Hoping for the best on your deals because I like you guys both, but I just can't help thinking Yave laced your drink and got you to sign over power of attorney here, Rux :bigteeth:

I'm confused. O'Reilly is still a PPG with league best FOW. How does he "not look like himself"? That's kinda his shtick.

Also. Tarasenko just came back and got matched with his old buddy

I do think rux weakened himself in net, but time will tell

Honestly, I'm good with the forwards in this. I like Schenn, but yeah, Tarasenko just came back (who I have), so at this point I'm just hoping he's even a shell of himself and this will turn out well.

We talked very briefly about a defenseman instead of Husso, which is what I should have gone with. I've thinned my goaltending a little too much, probably, so will have to figure that out.  But to your last statement, "yes, absolutely."  But so much not a priority in this that I wasn't intending on taking a goalie back, and really should not have.  Mistake in asset management.

This is a very difficult league to trade in. Much harder than NAHANA, imo.

Fair point.
I looked at his numbers more closely, and yea, they are better than I gave him credit for.

He must be doing it SUPER quietly this year though because I don't hear about him as much this season as I have in seasons past.
I also didn't take into account Tarasenko's return and his effect on O'Reilly's upward value.

My apologies, @ruxpin , your deal is better than I posted......though I STILL would take Samsonov over Husso.  :)

The other keep 5 league I am in is the most frustrating league I have ever been in. I've been 4 years now trying to rebuild and my luck is terrible.

G, A, +/-, PPP, FW, HITS, BKS,

W, GAA, SV%, SO

C, C, RW, RW, LW, LW, D, D, D ,D, G, G, and like 9 bench spots, 7 IR spots, and 5 NA spots. No utility spots.

It's a deep league so the waiver wire is bare to the bone. Grinding defensemen who don't score are important and usually take draft priority because nobody ever ever parts with their goalies or top scorers or centers with wing eligibility.

Over the years I have tried rebuilding, but every time I acquire a player he hits rock bottom.

Acquired Karlsson when he was still a big scoring dman who blocks 200 shots? He maims himself and sucks forevermore. Acquired holtby and Jones when the sharks and caps were good? Holtby gets replaced and the sharks suck now. Got Kuznetsov when he looked to be replacing Backstrom and amazing for another C? He regressed and is barely a 60 point player while the C I traded skyrocketed.

Every move I make turns to ashes in my mouth.

All stars at least has balancing with utility spot and extra offensive categories  that moserately devalues straight grinders like Borowecky.

If you didn't pay close enough attention by a certain round of the draft, all the RW/LW dual eligible  players down to the ahl might be gone. Which is catastrophic since you ice large lineups most nights and benching folks without filling slots is ruinous. Lack of a utility spot just drives the price of dual eligible folks way up. You have 9 bench spots, but defensemen hold like 5 of them since blocks and hits are mega important, so you alternate between half scoring, half grinding D depending on where you are behind.

I could not be more frustrated with that keep 5 league. My benchmark moves this year involved trading chychrun and Connor to dump Jones for samsonov, but I managed to get konecny and kaprisov off his IR in return.

Thought I had faceoffs covered with overkill for the season until my roster started taking on the look of a MASH unit. Eichel, Larkin, Strome, Hertl and Duchene all out. but whatayado?

Doc question.

I just noticed playoff setting have changed to 6 teams only. How the heck does that work?

Is there a bi week for top teams?

yes ... we implemented it last year but Covid pretty much killed the season.

so yes... top 2 teams get a bye and are automatically in the semifinals.

Little trade between rux and I. Since I had 6 goaltenders and one of his just went off with covid protocol

Blackwood and Dahlin for Klingberg and Benn.

Slightly ironic since I got Blackwood from him earlier in the year when I had a goalie problem and he immediately got put on weeks of covid protocol lol.

I feel secure in goal now after a bunch of little moves(knock on wood) so may as well start trying to reload my forwards and defense.

Trade to announce between myself and @TropicalFruitGirl26

GREEN STAR BLADES RECEIVE

Samsonov

Necas

Tyler Johnson

FOIL ADD

Jake Allen

Makar

Stastny

I simply hated trading Samsonov who is 6-0-1 on the year and reclaiming the net in Washington, Necas has turned into a true power play specialist and one of the best 3 on 3 players in the game.

What I got wasAllen to pair with Price, Stastny for faceoffs which is always a strength but this year has been a struggle and Makar who hoepfully comes back strong.

When I read this on the email notification I saw what TFG was getting first.  I thought, "oooh, I like that!"  Then I read Foil's and thought, "hey, I like that too!"

For my own personal taste and just fan boy (apros pro of nothing) I really like both Necas and Makar. So that's a wash for me even for fantasy. For me, you throw in Samsonov and I'm thinking, "well, this leans to TFG."  But this seems to address widely different priorities for both parties quite well, so for my money it looks like two winners here.

Nicely done.

Yea, negotiations were kept to a minimum here between yave and I, as we both pretty much knew what we wanted out of this.
One tweak and that's all it took to agree.

Tyler Johnson is the "weak link" in this deal, but, since I follow the Bolts more than anyone here, I also know that coach Cooper has been giving him time with either Point or Stamkos and he has played a bit better because of it.
Whether that stays that way remains to be seen, but he was worth including in the package for me to get an upgrade in goal, as I have plenty of solid defensemen.
