yave1964 Posted February 23, 2021 Share Posted February 23, 2021 Starting off with M A Fleury having his 64th career shutout last night against the high powered Avalanche. The sure fired hal of famer seems to be aging like a fine French wine. so much for rumors of him being done or traded back to Pittsburgh, with Lehner out and Fleury playing the best hockey in years he is the main reason Vegas is sitting on top of their division. Well him and those golden helmets. Zuccarello came back this past week with a vengeance, last night contributing a goal and three assists being involved in all four wild goals. In four games since his return he has 2 goals and 7 total points and is a plus five. Oh and they have won three in a row and are only a point out of a playoff spot. Auston Matthews who is running away with goals scored with 18 in 20 games had his goal scoring streak snapped last night. Soooo ...when Lehner gets healthy...does he get his job back? Or do you run with the hot goalie? Sucks for me as I have Lehner in All Star ...oh well. I think he's playing like a guy who has been jipped out of two 50-goal seasons and a Leafs franchise record due to the impact of covid. His mentality is probably like: "Okay, since all the beloved season milestones are unattainable, I'm just going to break this game and dominate GPG." When you're having a career year, you want to play all 82 games to put up monster numbers. Matthews hasn't had that opportunity. Crosby and Ovechkin got the chance to ring up monster 82-game seasons early in their careers and put up eye popping numbers. Matthews keeps missing out on that same opportunity.
