Give them credit they kept going hard and beat the Isles, handing them their first home loss in regulation all year. The GWer give-and-go (after another FO win by Giroux) was a thing of beauty. Before we chalk up this season as just another mired in mediocrity take another look at that play. Against a Trotz team that's been playing great at home. Tie game last few minutes...to come up with that? Pretty impressive imo. (1) Hart knows he has to catch that long wrister, top of the circle unobstructed (2) Sanheim's stick deflects the puck no blame to Hart (3) Nice cross-feed finds Wahlstrom alone net-front. Wide-open bc Konecny chased the play and left the entire right side without a defender. No goalie makes that stop unless it's pure luck. All in all a good response to the night before. The same defensive positioning mistakes crept in again and Hart still looks small. But to skate away with a regulation win against a good team is enough for now. I grew up in NY , Renting ice was a fortune and it was always 11pm at night, so we couldn’t do it all the time, especially when you had school. And work early the next morning. Hart is such an overrated goalie, but what can you do when an over-the-hill Elliott is your backup. I wonder what's wrong with the whole team too.
