Just walking in the door.

Nice already spotted their given 1 goal lead.

When was the last time they scored first?

I can't remember it's either been awhile or my brain is broke. Or both.

It isn't just size but what you do with the size.

Phil Myers 6-5

Travis Sanheim 6-3

Plenty of size sure they might need more muscle but if they play bigger then it wouldn't be an issue...but they just aren't fond of the physical play it seems.

Hard to change someone's mental makeup.

they have Coburnairres' disease  :NinjaLookLeftRight1:

Honest question, why do you all think any other GM is going to trade top notch players for our scrubs?

Yeah we could add draft picks and prospects or retain salary but that in turn hampers a rebuild.

Makes little to no sense to me to completely gut the team. Hell nobody wanted Ghost for free.

Getting rid of JVR would of equaled loosing more games this year and probably having a loosing record. I didn't like his game in the past for lack of physical play but he has come around and played with more intensity, effort and physicality. I see him as a piece to help a winning Cup Championship.

Laughton has developed year by year, and pushed forward to be a versatile player up and down the lineup. He has skills but needs to work on finishing more(mentally more than talent wise to believe in his former pre NHL days.)Management cornered him to be more a grinder 4th liner, but was more talented than that and is now breaking out of that role. Coots had to do the same thing when they pigeon holed him to be a PK specialist/defensive face off forward. Coots finally broke out of that position.

Ghost is a player that IS dynamic and has solid talent. I don't like their powerplay sling setup and can see odd man rushes because of it and we saw that last game.

No one picked up Ghost because the fear of the state of hockey right now, with the expansion, frozen cap. Contract issues, there's allot of uncertainty this and next year and GM's are waiting it out for next year after expansion and more normalcy.

I think Jake might get dealt, though it's a shame because if he'd only bring his talent for 3 periods he would be easily worth his contract but unfortunately is not consistent (though his play has been better along with JVR).

Ghost and Morin was a pair I had visions of when they played together in the AHL they complimented each other pretty well(Provy wasn't around back then so I thought this would be our home grown pair of defensive youth coming up. (we now have Sanheim and Myers also)

I don't know what management has against Ghost but they shouldn't of picked up Gus, and thought a little more on resigning Braun as the best option( I like Braun in a specialized role only 7D).

Though many say Nisky letting management know his intentions gave them some time to research out the solution. He gave them several months notice.

We are in a tuff spot, because some of the pieces we do have: Ghost, JVR and to a lesser extent Jake are what a contender will want to have on their squad.

But it IS unescapable of the up and down, buy in, this team has shown.

I'm glad Morin is in our lineup and clears the crease.

Getting rid of Rinaldo crippled our forecheck and physicality.

Not keeping Simmonds just about nailed away our heritage.

Nak could be a beacon of hope.

I'll go on record and say this: Nak would of had 10 goals by now at least had they played give an go with him. It pisses the living microbial feces out of me that he is always game to start something in the neutral/offensive zone to create a rush and he gives and they don't take the play, he goes off and tries to create odd man rushes or mismatches and whoever I mean whoever gets the puck forgets he's on ice and doesn't give it back to him. He can pass pretty well and has hockey smarts to know where the play can be.  And Nothing NOTHING ever comes out of his effort, very rare they give him back the puck with intent. I see the dejected look in his spirit as the opportunity fades away. It hurts the hockey soul to see it fizzle away. I can even see it in his demeanor of an opportunity lost as he skates back to regroup a lost opportunity.

As Kanye West says,"Wake up!"

I see this as a problem that needs to be addressed and the stupid pass to the guy that has two or three opponents on him in the neutral zone.

I don't really see Ghost making those type of bad passes often and Morin has been a blessing in the outlet defensive zone passing. Allowing continuity in our offensive attack.

No one wanted Ghost mid-season due to cap but more importantly before the expansion draft.

I really don't think our players are scrubs.  I think it's culture rot.  The only way that will be fixed is change in the player leadership.  The current leadership needs to be removed and the new leadership CANNOT be promoted from within.  They need to acquire that. I don't have an answer from where or specific names, but someone in the over 30 crowd with winning on their resume.  Maybe a couple people, actually.  But the interim captain of a season or two needs to come from elsewhere.

And bringing them in without removing Giroux and Voracek will not work.  They HAVE to go. We cannot expect this to change with them in the room.  The radioactive culture is infectious and the troops won't follow the new leader until the old is deposed.

I've had to do this in other companies and it's pretty much the same psychology in this instance.

I hate to give up on G, but they got rid of Simmonds for Hockey business reasons.

(Sit each player down to a man Chuck and spill it out straight, "You want to stay in this organization?" "Well it's been several years the organization hasn't accomplished what it set out for, I'm here to change that, if you want to stay in this, all the city asks is for consistency and effort, it's my job to bring in the results, it's your job to put in the work on the ice." "It's that simple."

This Breakfast Club group either needs to put it together consistently or be back in the library for two more months(don't mess with the bull horns fingers)

These are not the salad days anymore. 8 years....eight years.....2 years from being two years away....no more.

Yes they are stuck with him no one even wanted to claim him for free so at least he and Morin have looked suitable for a 3rd pair.

Wish they could say the same for the 2nd pair. But that is a whole new argument.

I mean discussion.

So yes instead of making popcorn they have found a spot in the lineup.

Now Gus can make popcorn till he is gone for all I care.

And as we discussed somewhere around here before buying out Ghost isn't and option.

But I would certainly pick up 2 mill of his salary if you can find a taker.

Gus tried to cover the popcorn with butter, but failed miserably

if the caps dont resign ovi, that's the player i would bring in,  the rest of names from fa that won championships, bozak, hjalmarsson, Martinez.

I think the rest of your list would be among those that would be the supporting, "yeah, bring him in also, to support."  Ovi qualifies but God, I hate him.  Plus, I can't help but think if he were a better leader they'd have had more than one Cup. But, they DID have a Cup.

Stranger things have happened, but I don't think theres a snowball's chance in hell that Ovi moves on from the Caps.  The Caps will make him a rich man.

Martinez is the only one of the other three that I'd be interested in.
