  1. That sounds like the lack of patience the article was talking about. Schenn has had TERRIBLE injury luck in the brief moments of NHL action. I think he is way above the "curve". He just needs to get healthy.

Quite honestly no one knows whether he is ahead or behind. Minor league success != NHL success.

  2. How exactly should he have not targeted the head? Lindros' head was very low. Kasper went in for a legal check to the chest area. It just happens that lindro's head was in front of his chest instead of up where it should have been.

Steckl was incidental contact. He wasn't even looking at crosby when they hit each other.

  3. Billy Jaffe is a fucking idiot. He was talking about giroux before the game and was basically like, "is the the fastest skater? no, but he has a good step. Does the have the hardest shot? no, but he knows how to place it. Is he a great passer? no, but he finds his teammates" Or some sh!t like that. That last one is a joke. He is a terrific passer you idiot.

  4. Didn't the new NBA CBA allow for 1 buyout(a year) perhaps, with NO cap implications? Not sure, because, well..I really don't give a sh!t about the NBA, but I thought I heard that somewhere.

But it would kick ass if the NHL did something similar.

The NHL did with the last CBA. Unfortunately the timing isn't good for the flyers since it would be this summer. No way you can deepsix Bryz already. I would be happy to see a Pronger buyout though. Also highly unlikely though since he was just named Captain.

  5. @aziz

Yeah, they are stuck with this contract. The NMC basically makes it an over 35 contract with the exception of if he retires they are free and clear. But the chances of that are slim to none. He is going to be here for a LONG time.

Regarding one time buyout window with new CBA, I don't think they buy him out after one season unless he just completely tanks. I would love to see them do that to pronger, but unfortunately I don't see them doing it and they will be stuck with that cap hit for the duration.

  6. No injury to Read so probably no suspension but I am sure it will be sighted if he has any more plays similar to that one. If he had followed through with that elbow it would be a different story as opposed to just brushing him like he did.

There will definitely be a suspension. This is the exact thing that they started all this for. If they don't suspend him for that blatant headshot, they are a bigger joke than we though. For fuck sake, they suspended a Dallas player for barely leaving his feet on a hit.

  7. So have we. Considering all the injuries we've had, including our captain, we are near the top of the league.

The one thing against us tonight is that it's the back end of a B2B, and yesterday was a hard fought victory.

    3-1 Flyers.

That's fine. I am just commenting on saying they "better win this one". As if the pens are a pushover. There will be nothing easy about this game. They have the goaltending edge and that has shown time and again to be a big edge.

  8. I'm gonna go ahead and opine that 25 games into the first season of a trade is an awful place to try to evaluate it.

Suppose, God forbid, Richards never plays another game for the Kings because of concussion. Did the Kings still come out "huge"?

Suppose Schenn turns into a 40/40 center in the next 3-4 years. Did the Kings still come out "huge"?

We also don't know what that No. 2 turns into. While a crapshoot to be sure, there are some high quality players who came out of the second round.

If anything, I think the trade is a bit of a wash on both sides at the moment. The Flyers (apparently) had to shake up the room (again) before being locked into long term contracts with NTCs. The Kings got a solid player who is playing the role he probably should have kept in Philly for a while longer.

Both teams could end up coming out "huge" on that deal. After 1/4 of a season, yes, the Kings have gotten more immediate impact on the scoresheet but we likely don't know the full impact the trade had on the Flyers off the scoresheet...

Guess it is kind of a wash/flyers win since at least the flyers have one of those players playing.

The flyers had to trade Richards though, as it was clear there were issues. If it improves the chemistry of the team, the flyers will be winners for that alone.
