  1. Agree with AndyS. As much as I like to hate on Carter, I was happy seeing him win last night. He stepped up big time in the Finals and was a big reason for the Kings beating the Devils. I'm happy for all the ex-Flyers there, and the rest of the Kings, especially Gagne. I would have loved to see him win it in an orange and black jersey, but I'm just happy he finally won. I have nothing but love and great memories of Gagne.

  2. He looked so out of gas and done at the end of the year but I really loved him this year. If only he was a couple years younger. He was an integral part of the team. Maybe he can be a bit like Federov on the Caps a few years ago and play a smaller role on the team but still make an impact at the right times.

  3. May be someone like Vokoun could be signed cheaply as well. Sign me up getr done........

Only thing is Bob will rot away if he doesn't start. He's not a backup goaltender and isn't developing not starting a lot of games. I know he needs a lot of work, but I'd probably keep Bob and sign a true backup, like Hedberg or something. Maybe Clemmenson. It might be a slight set back in net but I feel like defense is our big target this offseason, so it can help a little, and maybe Bob will blossom and become pretty legit. In the meantime they Hovinen who I believe is 6'7" and supposed to be a stud developing. He should/will probably play a year or two in the AHL to learn the North American game before coming up, which is what Bobrovsky should have done.

  4. Totally understand.

They hadn't lost 3 in row all season either till this last game.

So i guess 4 in a row is a good thing to shoot for what the hey! :D

Yes the positive is there is a lot of young talent.

Yet there are a lot of ????????s through out the team.

Bryz just baffles me. I just don't think he can handle the pressure cooker known as "Philly press and coverage".

For myself regardless of the outcome JVR needs to be moved if for nothing else i don't see "it" in him.

A change of scenery would do him some good and a piece that "FITS" in his place.

Would rather move him now and let someone else pay him 4.5 mill or whatever.

The Flyers don't have the goaltending to dig out of and 3-1 hole. Bryz though he has at times made some BIG saves.

His play hasn't encouraged the team in front of him like a Holtby or Smiths play has done for their teams.

    Will be be Hueted?

    I believe he'll get 1 more season.

Maybe they trade Bob (but i can't see how do after his stock has dropped).

If you want to get rid of Bryzgalov like I do, he has to go during this offseason. Our only hope of getting rid of him is if the new CBA allows a buyout with no penalty. Nobody is going to want to take his contract after that. I say get rid of Bryz, roll with Bob and hope to develop Hovinen and bring him up in a year or two. Bryz isn't horrid but he's not worth his contract and is too much of a headcase.

  5. Caps, Kings, and Phoenix for me. I dislike the Caps but they're my hometown team and I love Ovechkin and Backstrom. Plus my little brother is a huge Capitals fan. I just wouldn't want to deal with the backlash of all my friends who are hockey "fans" celebrating about how awesome the Caps are. I like the Kings but I really don't want to see Carter win the Cup. Kings fans don't know why we dislike him so much but they'll learn within three years. Phoenix is a team I've always kind of liked and it would be awesome for Doan to win it all. Obviously not rooting for the Rags or Debs. If it comes down to LA vs. WSH, I'll probably root for WSH but I guess it wouldn't matter to me.

  6. Thanks for the link - not! :)

Look how pissed Gus is after that goal. The camera is only on him for a second but you can clearly see him throw up his hands right at Briere (and Simmonds too, who did exactly nothing on that play just like Briere).

[edit: wow - a rookie D-man giving the "WTF?" hand signal to a veteran forward right on the ice - in front of the home crowd no less. That's how bad things got last night]

It's amazing, considering what's at stake, how bad our forwards played... to just stand and watch the opposition run circles around them in our zone.

It's like FC says about Bryzgalov, when Bryzgalov has stunk up the joint, it's almost like you have to be trying to suck that much.

What in the world was Briere doing...?

  7. when the flyers dominate a period or game nobody says the other team didnt give any effort. the devils dominated the game for 50 out of 60 minutes. i doubt the flyers "werent giving any effort" after the first. devils were just better last night all around.

They were better all around but you could see a clear lack of effort on the Flyers' part. They weren't skating and digging hard to make the plays we know they can. They just coasted around for a lot of the game.

  8. I don't think it's too fair. It would have been nice if Bryz could have played out of his mind and stolen that game but the Larsson shot was from right in front up him up high. It's hard to expect to stop that. The second goal was in no way his fault, and the third was a little off but the puck ramped on the wraparound and Zajac was able to skate uncontested in front of the net. I don't blame Bryz at all last night.

  9. The Devils fans are hyping up their team and talking about their amazing depth and blah blah blah. I really don't think the Devils are that deep. Sure their third line was solid during the regular season and their fourth played well last series, but they don't have the depth to compare to the Flyers. Nobody in their right mind should think that Clarkson is really a 30 goal scorer, especially when he only had 16 assists. Doesn't sound like a well-rounded player to me.

I'm confident the Flyers take it in 5, however, I'm a little worried the Flyers will be overconfident and have had this whole week off, which could mean they come out flat like Nashville did last night. I'm expecting the Flyers to lose a game, but I'm not sure about 4 straight wins if they lose tomorrow. With the team's tendency to start off weak in their games, is anybody else a little concerned about tomorrow?

  10. WTF??? How did I miss that?? So he was banging his sister in law?! Classic. If those dates are right, it appears he knocked up Melanie sometime during the season and they had a shotgun wedding that summer. So in 1995, he knocks up his girlfriend, wins a stanley cup, gets married, and has a kid. Quite a year. Then in 2003 he wins another stanley cup and gets divorced. Nice to book-end your marriage with a pair of Cups!

It seems he'll need another affair to return to Cup-winning form. That was his secret all along.
