  1. I think we were all slightly terrified (in some cases relieved) last summer when Homer sent Richards, Carter, Leino, Carcillo, Powe, Versteeg, Zherdev, O'Donnell and Boucher packing. Plus we were uncertain of the futures of Betts, Laperriere and Leighton.

Things turned out brilliantly in my opinion.

So far this summer the Flyers have added Schenn, Fedotenko and Gervais. The team chemistry wasn't tampered with dramatically, so I think the team may be breathing a collective sigh.

Now look at it from the other teams stand point. NJ lost a big cog of it's offense, as did Pittsburgh. The Islanders are banking their season on the return of Dipeitro. The Caps may have done some upgrades but we'll see how that pans out. The only team that concerns me is the Rangers. They stood pat. And they kicked the Flyers butt last year. They are going into this season with some good team chemistry as well.

I guess all I'm getting at in this rambling post is that I for one am going to be patient and excited. i think Homer did the right things. I think our offense will be fine. Our healthy and repaired defense will keep Bryz comfortable and a year under his belt in Philly will help Bryz's psyche.

  2. Yeah and if his choices are indeed NJ, Minnesota and Philly, he's picking between loyalty to NJ, home in Minny and money (and maybe not having to move) with Philly. There is no structured timetable that they have follow for making a decision. I say give him his time and space.

  3. We can't really say we're surprised can we? The writings been on the wall. When they traded bob and talk switched to Leighton I had a pretty good idea where Homer was going. AJ posted some good stats regarding Leighton and I also agree that Bryz may shine with more games. I try not to get to worked up about these things anymore. Team management has a pretty good grasp and certainly a closer vantage point.

  4. Cmon'

Great series all around, but you guys are acting like beating the Pens is our 'Stanley Cup'.

...Now we have Giroux and Hartsy firing off T-shirt cannons at Nickleback concerts and Giroux being photoshopped as Jesus.

We can enjoy this a little but Lavi still needs to figure out how to beat a defensively sound team Like the Rangers, Bruins, Preds and Blues. Until then, I'm keeping a straight face...and not shaving my beard.

Hey I hear you barkin' SoCal. The Jesus thing kinda bums me out and Nickleback blows, but fun is fun. Let the gang blow off some steam. Maybe a little glowing in the spotlight and then back at it. You can't practice all day long and a little PR is good for everybody.

  5. Now we can worry about something other than the Rangers.

If Ottawa wins, well that would just be awseome.

    BUT...

If Ottawa wins and Florida wins, Flyers play Caps.

If Ottawa wins and NJ wins, Flyers play Sens.

If NY wins and Florida wins, Flyers play Cats.

If NY wins and NJ wins, Flyers play Devils.

I like scenerios 1 and 3 the best but heck no NY till round 3? Fantastic!

  6. Crosby's actions only harm himself....

When I was watching the game I noticed that jagr was on the bench unaffected by the chaos and crowd noises,.... When I read his blog it makes sense

Yeah Jagr's havin' fun and I think not getting all caught up in the nonsense is helping him have fun. As opposed to someone like Hartnell who loves mixing it up to add to his in game enjoyment. Both philosophies are great.

  7. I am shocked at how classless this team has become.

And then I heard Bylsma on NHL Network blaming the (wait for it) referrees for how his players behaved? He said that the way that they were calling the game ensured that there would be a lot of hits after the whistle, scrums, etc. Huh???

Really? That's choice. I'd love a link to that.
