Landeskog (knee) to miss 2023-2024 season

Published

Colorado Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog is set to undergo a cartilage transplant and will miss the entire 2023-2024 season, the club announced on Tuesday.

Landeskog, 30, will undergo the procedure in Chicago on Wednesday.

The Stockholm native did not play in 2022-2023 after undergoing a procedure on the knee in October, which was his second operation on the knee.

His initial prognosis was a 12-week recovery. He had been ruled out of the current playoffs days before they were to begin. The Avs lost their first-round series to the Seattle Kraken in seven games.

The second overall selection of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, Landeskog had 22 points in 20 games last spring as the Avalanche won the Stanley Cup.

For his career, Landeskog has 248 goals and 323 assists in 738 games over 11 seasons.

He has six seasons remaining on an eight-year, $56 million deal.
