Brewin Flames Posted May 24 Share Posted May 24 Chicago Blackhawks and New York Islanders make a trade Published May 24, 2024 at 1:35 PM BY TYLER BALL This afternoon a trade has been completed between the Chicago Blackhawks and the New York Islanders that will impact the upcoming NHL Draft. Today it was announced that the Chicago Blackhawks are trading up in the NHL Draft. They will swap picks with the New York Islanders to move up from pick 20 to pick 18. Choice transaction between @NYIslanders and @NHLBlackhawks #Isles News: The New York Islanders have acquired a first-round pick (#20) and two second-round picks (#54 and #61) in the 2024 NHL Draft from the Chicago Blackhawks, in exchange for the team's first-round pick (#18) and second-round pick (#50). A trade like this usually happens on draft day as a team covets a certain player. The timing of this trade could indicate a bigger move on the horizon for either team. The Blackhawks and GM Kyle Davidson could be moving up to get closer to the front where they can move up again on draft day. While the Islanders could be gaining extra assets in the second round to make a trade of some kind themselves.
