All true as well    Looking at the pipeline it is really hard not to get excited about the prospects.  I guess I am in the same camp as @radoran these days where now I want to see it come to fruition.   I have no doubts that it will but I still have reservations in respects to Hakstol.  I think one of the most underrated story-lines of the upcoming season is Hakstol.   Albeit, it is much easier to coach a team that has legitimate NHL talent - LOL.   Really nothing not to be excited about these days.  I still think they are a bubble playoff team but it would not shock me at all if they slipped into the playoffs.   All I want to see is progression from the Team's play and the Coaching Staff.      And I agree Ghost bounces back.   There is way too much talent there for him not to and his injury, in my opinion (like G), was the issue last year.   I don't think he can statistically rebound to his rookie season but not many players can play at that level year in and year out.    I wish the season would start today!

I think that Edmonton did the right thing in securing Mcdavid and Driasitl for the next few year and in my opinion, they deserve the money that they got. I think that they were one of the best duos in the league and by securing them, Edmonton acquired the backbone of a great team.   In my opinion, now Edmonton can go and sign the supporting crew that will make Edmonton a great team in the next years. Also, they got a great chance of winning the Stanley Cup in the next few years.   I believe that we can expect great things from Edmonton in the next few years with Mcdavid and Draisaitl are the core of this team.

The Travis Roy Foundation got another big boost from the wiffle ball tournament at Pat and Beth O'Conner's.  $585, 496, to be exact.  Over 4.6 million since the tournament started 16 years ago.  Travis lives not far away, at Mallet's bay in Colchester.   The O'Conners have built three replica ball parks.  Little Fenway, Little Wrigley, and Little Field of Dreams.  They are really neat, look just their namesakes.  They're on a hill behind the O'Conner's house.  This event is just one of many during the summer there.  The teams are usually coed, with lots of families and kids.  Low key,  and fun.   If you get the chance, visit the place.  I think you'll like it.

Yes and no. You spend the first 10 years establishing your value, and then the next 10 padding the bill.

Something to ponder:   People are always quick to point out Gretzky's advantage in points compared to Lemieux, and don't seem to care that Lemieux had injury problems and battled cancer. When it comes to Orr, people are willing to overlook the fact that Ray Bourque and Paul Coffey have double the points that Orr had.    Orr manages to stay #1 on most lists despite his knee problems, but Lemieux always seems to be punished for his lymphoma.

At least it's not just us talking to ourselves saying, "well at least we've got a great farm system with a lot of kids coming up soon".     Terrifyingly, it feels a bit like last year when the Reading Phillies were so good and some opposing coaches were saying that the All Star Game should just be the rest of the league's all stars vs. the Reading Phillies.     Hasn't quite worked out yet.     Though on the bright side, the Flyers have a few more pieces in place at the pro level than the Phillies do... did... oh boy the Phillies are terrible.
