  1. Jets only allowed 2 goals in the last 4 games--they were hot and at home. The game was not considered to be an easy one going in... They came out of the shoot and had Flyers on their heels. Flyers recovered and almost pulled it out; but, the momentum the Jets had going into the game carried them through. Since the Jets were on a role, i have to agree with Digy--Bryz would have been my choice to start the game.
  2. Nitty sure did own them--even Boucher had a run against that franchise... The odd man rushes are going to happen with aggressive play in the neutral zone--it's a "two-edged" sword. It killed the Flyers early on against the Jets; but, was the key to scoring chances late in the 2nd and 3rd period... As my son says, "It is what it is...."
  3. I knew I had it coming... Yes, I actually did really like the "Car-Bomb" I'm one of the few, the proud, the derranged LOL! Simmonds does give 100% everytime--I totally agree with that. He actually tries so hard that it hinders his "situational awareness." The good news is that can be fixed with good coaching and mentoring. I certainly like the way things are shaping up. The Flyers are much better than I expected this season. I'm really enjoying watching the games. I just wish my Center Ice package was in HD--I have "Charter Communications"--it's a horrible cable company. I would switch to Direct TV if they carried the local channels. I really don't want to put up an antenna... Such is life in Alabama where they invented the toothbrush (if it was invented somewhere else, it would have been called a "teethbrush).
  4. Hey TedZep--I actually thought Pronger played well. He seems to be making better decisions on "D" and is no longer afraid to be aggressive in the neutral zone when he has the chance. I think you'll see him be more of a factor on the next few games. Simmonds looked like he was just trying too hard to make something happen. I agree with you he made several bad decisions especially when the Jets were in our zone. Belive it or not, I miss Carcillo--he also always tried to make things happen. But, his decision making was much better when he wasn't playing the "enforcer." I think he was one of the most under-rated players on the Flyers. The guy had heart and was a "gamer" and he loved playing in Philly. I'd like to have him over Simmonds...
  5. Well I stuck with the game to the end. Nice come back by the Flyers; but, came up short. When the Jests were the Thrashers, I went to several games in Atlanta--and I must say I am happy for the Jets that they at least now have some real hockey fans. The Phillips Arena in Atlanta was a nice venue; but, the fans were dismal. It was a wonder the Thrashers played as well as they did. It was nice to see them play hockey in an arena where the fans support them. Cool uniforms too IMHO. I went to all Thrashers/Flyers games in Atlanta and Thrashers/Penguins games (my youngest son is a Pens fan--I have failed as a father). The Flyers and Pens fans always outnumbered the Thrasher fans by far. Enough of the nice stuff... Dang those Jets... they have our number. Flyers just started out slow and the Jets had lots of energy. But, the Flyers did come back to make in 5-4 in the 3rd period before the "empty netter." BTW--anyone else think that empty netter was OFF SIDES besides me?! I did not have the game on DVR; but, I would really like to look at that. If anyone has the game DVRed, please go back to that play and let me know what you think. I could be wrong; but, of course the only game I don't DVR I want a re-look. I actually never thought the Flyers were out of this game--final score was not in our favor; but, I did see some positve play from the Flyers. I think Pronger has really improved since the first part of the season and has his "head in the game." He's thinking things through and does get agressive in the neutral zone when he has the opportunity. And, this Christmas, I want a Giroux jersey--he is awesome! One of the best stick handlers in the NHL. I love watching that guy play. He's the first player since John LeClair that has me wanting a new jersey.
  6. @ Bakenekiniwa--exactly--even a browser from the Smithsonian would get him into the site. @ IrishJim--I don't know what got into me on the rhyme thing--on the second thought I know exactly--it was some good Chilean wine (had a bit too much). I put a recruiting message at Candyland for Flyers fans to come here. This is not only good; it's better than Philly.com in the beginning. Finally a place to talk Flyers... I hope Idaho continues to recruit from Philly.com. I will too; but, he is more well known than me. We need to get all the posters here--and then we can just turn the lights out and leave that place for good.
  7. IrishJim: It is deifinitely Buff-Prick. And even if he had the first ever browser introduced in history, it would still work to get him into the site. The only problem would be that certain html and CSS (Cascading Style Sheet) coding would not work correctly. In essense the page would look bad and be a little hard to read; but, it would still work. Pfiggle is not Pfiggle Yet, his face may jiggle jiggle But I can tell for sure It's just a trolling lure If you get take that bait You'll quickly find your fate It was just a trick It is Buffalo Prick
  8. There is no doubt that Philly gets some "reputation penalties"--it's actually been that way since the "Broad Street Bullies" era in the beginning. ... as far as the Rinaldo thing last night... I normally would agree that both players should have been penalized. However, it was clear to me that Rinaldo's strategy was clearly to get both sides penalized and he was the sole instigator and he was called on it. It's actually the "reputation penalty" in reverse. We tend to think that Rindaldo was the only one penalized based upon reputation; however, in this instance, I have to agree with the officials on the 10 min. mis-conduct. That was clearly all Rinaldo IMHO. It was a good try and I credit Rinaldo for giving it a shot--he picked the player that would hurt the Coyotes the most; but, it just didn't work. I'm sure I'm in the minority in this opinion; but, that's the way I saw it.
  9. @Irishjim: No, we cannot add the features we have here at "Candyland"--it's not that we don't want to, it's just that the YUKU engine does not offer these features. This format is about the best I've seen--maybe we can migrate to a site like this to host the forum, that would be the only way. @doom88: Thanks for the laugh--that was a great way to start my morning. Hope you have a great weekend! @Digy: zazing--LOL! And you are quite welcome--we truly appreciate what you've done here. Especially for us geographically challenged fans. Can you imagine living in Alabama and talking hockey?!--Many of the folks here actually believe it is all fake like the WWF! This forum is my "water-cooler" site to talk about my favorite NHL team with other fans. I'm going to try to recruit others from the Phillies "Candlyland" forum. There are a lot of Flyers fans there and they would like this place a lot!
  10. @pags569: You'll do it and whatever you pay for the tickets, it will be worth. Glass Banger seats are the best ever! My second favorit seats are front row in the upper-bowl. But, if can score the "glass-banger" seats in Philly, that would be awesome. Great game last night--loved that final goal with 18.6 seconds left in the 3rd period--imagine having glass banger seats at that one!
  11. Well, I got my answers on the "In Game Chat"--wow Digy--you are the best. I have to get a Notebook computer for Christmas so I can do In-game chat. I know I keep saying it; but, THANK-YOU for doing this DIGY--I think this is better than even Philly.com was back in the day when it used to be good.
  12. Got back from work late--saw only 3rd Period against the Coyotes; but, I like what I saw. Love the aggressive play in the neutral zone and I was impressed by Pronger late in the period. He took a chance to move out of position to keep the puck in the zone that ultimately setup the final surge and the score with 18 seconds left. Nice win and some momentum going for the Flyers right now. Can someone tell me what happened to Jagr? I just heard lower body injury. I do not get the post game show on Center Ice--so if someone can give me an update, I'd be grateful.
  13. My most memorable game was in 2009 Flyers at Thrashers. It was most memorable for me because it was the first NHL game for both of my sons. Flyers won 3-1. I was in the military for over 33 years and was never able to go to a game until I retired here in Alabama. Both my college age sons became hockey fans in 2007 and finally got why I liked the game so much. We finally found a time to go to a game together. We had a great time and enjoyed exploring Atlanta--went to the "World of Coke"; toured CNN; ate at a 5 star seafood resaturant, and visited the Ferrari, Lamborghini (sp?), and Lotus dealerships in Roswell (my oldest son is a car enthusiast)... One of the best "Father/Sons" trip we ever took. BTW, the Flyers fans out numbered the Thrasher fans in the Phillips Arena (home of the Thrashers). I'm disappointed they moved to Winnepeg (sp?)--it only takes me 3 hours to get to Atlanta from where I live. O
  14. Panthers actually out played us on offense IMHO entire game; but, the Flyers "D" was on their game. Pronger got beat on that first goal by Panthers; and he looked a little slow to me. But, overall great defense and lot's of hitting. ... and the key to the victory was the OUTSTANDING PK by the Flyers. Lot's of forechecking and aggressive play on the PK expecially when up by two goals. Even with the 5 on 3, Flyers were agressive and had a short handed chance that resulted in the penalty shot for Read (first in his career).
  15. That overtime was frustrating... I totally agree; Flyers came out and looked great in the OT!... And the only time TB gets it in the zone--SCORE! Wow, that was tough to watch. I also thought Flyers had a chance to keep it from going to OT if they would have played the Jagr line on the PP. Also, once again Hartnell hurt our chances in the 3rd period with the penalties... Flyers did look outstanding in the PK though in the 3rd period. Tough loss all the way around; glad we salvaged 1 point. I still don't know how I feel about our chances for post-season success yet. It's way early I know; but, the team has me on the fence as far as greatness goes. One game they look awesome and then on another, they look beat. Overall, I'm encouraged--they are doing better at this point overall than I expected. Biggest surprise for me is Jagr--he's doing much better that I thought. And, on another note--I still can't believe how great this forum is...
