  1. When the Universe knows it is needed, the Universe gets paid. This is the Law of the Universe.
  2. I am sorry but I cant help but disagree once again. The Flyers fanbase has been screaming for a number one caliber goalie for nearly two decades. Just last year, Holmgren responded and stated that he didn't believe goaltenders won Championships -- instead solid defense did (hence going out and getting Pronger, then Meszaros) and referenced the Red Wings in his support. Last year, we went through 9 goalie changes and 3 different goalies in 11 games in the postseason. And Ed Snider said enough is enough. This organizations wants to win. There's a reason we have made the postseason 15 out of the last 16 years. Are they at times clouded by the fact that this organization has always promoted from within? Perhaps.

  4. This is completely wrong. Bryzgalov was signed because of pressure from the owners, namely Mr. Ed Snider. He had no choice.
  5. Did you get the actual WC jersey or just the current Flyers home? I think the Alumni are wearing the current Flyers home jerseys for the Winter Classic Alumni game.
  6. Good news! As I suspected, they will be adding more HD screens to keep fans in LF from having to turn their heads: [The HD screens are especially important, and the NHL is installing additional videoboards so fans in leftfield can watch without turning their heads. Every fan will have a view of a videoboard from his or her seat. "I don’t care where you’re at, at any stadium, you’re watching a puck going 30, 40 miles an hour from 400 feet away, you’re not going to see a heck of a lot," Renzulli said. "The big deal about HD screens now is you can see everything, and you’re there. You can look down and watch it and can also look up and see it in HD."] http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/hockey/other_nhl/view/20111218flyers_and_rangers_going_skating_in_citizens_bank_park_for_winter_classic/srvc=sports&position=also
  7. It's going to be a great experience no matter where you are to be honest. This is a similar view to the pic above at CBP from Fenway. Fenway is a bit steeper, so I think these seats are just a bit higher -- and Fenway is smaller, so the rink is closer... but you may be okay!
  8. This is from 138, Row 31. Yours will be a similar vantage point. Keep in mind, there will be boards, and people standing all around the rink, but you should still have a decent view albeit standing the entire game. I would say seeing anything definite on the near side of the blue line is a shot in the dark, and unfortunately, the other side of the rink is a bit far. But it'll still be a good spot. The tough part is that if you wanted to watch on the scoreboard, you're going to have a stiff neck (picture below).
  9. It was. And I agree he has the voice. He was the face of the team to the media throughout the end of the season and the playoffs. But lately, he's seemed to shy away from it a bit. I guess I'm just not as sure anymore, is all.

    Couturier

In all my years of watching hockey, I have never seen a rookie work as hard and kill penalties as effectively as Sean Couturier.
  11. I was a proponent of Briere with the C but lately I've been doubting whether or not his voice is loud enough in the room.
  12. Agreed. Major cause golf head hits is lack of time and space to react. International ice is the way to go.
  13. I was at the Flyers game in Montreal when Primeau hit the ice. I was about 11 rows up from the exact position where he fell, and it seemed like I was the only one who noticed how hard he hit his head. When his helmet his the ice, I thought it shattered. He curled both hands up to his head in pain, much like the way Lindros did when Darius hit him. The players didn't see it because the puck had gone up ice already, and none of the coaches or trainers said a word to Keith when he returned to the bench -- also seemingly unaware of his head hitting the ice. He went out for his next shift, played two more games, and called it a career. "On Oct. 24 Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mikael Grabovski inadvertently struck Pronger in the eye with his stick after he shot the puck, but Pronger recovered and returned to the lineup on Nov. 9. However, after just five games, Pronger was removed from the lineup and has been sidelined with concussion-like symptoms ever since. " I fear the worst in this situation for Chris, and I wouldn't be surprised if his career was finished. I pray that it isn't.
  14. Digiity, you should make this subform or thread only visible to registered users/people who sign in. It'll save you and us a lot of disappointment from HBO/NHL threats.
  15. THANK YOU! When I watched the first three minutes, I literally got chills.
  16. Hey guys. Two tickets in 234 row 8 for the Classic at a very reasonable price. Directly behind net where Flyers shoot twice. 29 year season ticket holder corporate account. Email at s3x@me.com. Need these gone fast.
  17. This is a dream scenario for Couturier and he will not disappoint. He acquitted himself rather well in the Tampa game, and I imagine it will only continue. All the hard work of playing on a 4th line is going to pay off for him on a top line with Jagr and Hartnell.
  18. Crazy to think Darius is going to be on the ice at the Alumni game, along with Chris & John, who of course were the ones that escorted Big E off the ice.
  19. I just watched the Locker Room Access post-game interview with Bryz from tonight's game... He cracks me up almost all the time, but the first few seconds of this one had me spit out my drink... You kind of hear some guy ask a question along the lines of "What do you think?" to start the interview session. Bryz takes a second and looks at him and then finally answers "I don't think... what do you wanna know?" Later in the interview, Carchidi asks him about going down 3-0 last night and then having the 3-0 lead tonight and then asks "what do you chalk this win up to?" and Ilya is like "what?... what is chalk?." And then he called out another guy for saying this was the first time he played back to back. It was funny. He has started to force questions in a way that allow him to give the cliche answer. It was perfect, and is a perfect example of how much Philadelphia has been a shock to his system when you compare it to his free-talking ways in Phoenix and Anaheim, both in and out of the net. Hopefully he's starting to adjust to it and I think it's starting to show slowly in his play. Once he can stop giving up 0-3 holes, we might have a decent goaltender.
  20. Giroux was put in a secondary and even tertiary role when he entered the league and for his first two+ seasons, behind Richards, Carter, and Briere. In his first season, he didn't even play his natural Center position. On the other hand, Crosby entered the league in a primary role, playing pond hockey with Mario Lemieux, and has flourished since. I'd like to see where Giroux is in three years and then reassess, but skill wise, I think Giroux is up there, but just a smidgeon below Crosby. I think Sidney has better vision overall (and without question, the best vision in the game), but I would agree that Claude has better stick handling skills -- but not by all that much. Time will tell, hoping that Crosby doesn't end up getting knocked out of the game for good.
  21. $160 for ALL three games INCLUDING fees? I'm sorry, but I flat out don't believe you. Haha. Either way, have fun! EDIT: Nevermind, I guess it is possible if you are within the first few rows of the lower level for every game.
  22. The more I think about it, the more angry I get that Flyers Season Ticket Holders were forced to buy tickets to all games and then slapped with astronomical fees. I paid $40.25 in fees PER TICKET to JUST the Winter Classic, while some NHL Lottery winner got the chance to buy JUST the Classic and had significantly LESS fees than me. I don't like the way the Classic is being handled. Sorry to vent. Congrats on getting seats though! It's going to be a great time.
  23. You're telling me you only had $11 in fees per ticket?
