I say sign Carl to a good contract that makes sense and sign a vet player for a year to just fill a roster spot. Next years ufa market is going to be amazing if the players in question don't resign

If he was hurt which severely affected his play down the stretch and into the playoffs I say sign him back. Maybe 2.5 a year? Still gives us 11 mil in space to round out our roster . Dont scream at me. Lol. Only if he was indeed injured would I give him a pass

Yep considering prongers cap is removed once the season begins and Schenns cap hit is I believe around 2m and removing some of the ahl players off the roster and back to the ahl we come in at around 18m in actual space. Pretty good if I'm right. But a lot goes towards carle and vorachek. What maybe 7m?

It's a weak draft. There is prolly 4-6 players that are can't miss. After that it's a crap shoot. Same player talent wise is available at 15 and 150.

A lot hinges on the cba. They may allow players to retire from career ending injuries without cap penalty and allow a one time buy out with no penalty this off season after sept 15th if the cba is in place. Why would you not rid yourself of pronger and breezy if you could without penalty? Briere and kimmo fall under the category of just move to allow younger players to play and take our lumps for a few years and add more youth and talent maybe through a lottery pick or top 15 picks for two or three years

I no doubt believe we are competitive now and are a threat in the playoffs. However I just want to get younger and free up space to sign the players coming into their last years shortly like g and harts. Jvr is a player I would move as well but only if it's for a top tier damn and not Nash unless it's a three way trade like bob and jvr and our 1st to the jackets for Nash and then Nash to Nashville for weber. Good basis of a trade but I doubt you get weber for Nash. Bob is another moveable piece. However his value is probably low at this point. So I'm not sure what he alone would get considering not many teams are in need of goaltending. Maybe Boston Tampa and oilers as options.

I would rid myself of five players/contracts this off season. Each one because of different reasons. I'm sure 90 percent of the board will scream at me and say I'm just dumb, but , here we go... 1# Jody shelley....great team guy. A team first mentality. But he must be moved to clear cap space and get younger. Sestito can due his job at a cheaper rate and can skate and actually play third line minutes and not look completely lost. Bury in ahl or move him for a pick or ahl player. 2# kimmo timm...yah I'm saying it. Move him now. Yes he has a ntc but he would most likely be willing to move to another team like Detroit if he is no longer wanted by Philly. It clears cap space and allows a young player playing time. Should be able to get a mid round pick for him. He is a shadow of himself and cannot stay healthy anymore. Another team might pick him up on his leadership ability and playoff experience. 3# Daniel briere...yes mister playoff. He is a huge cap hit but has some left in the tank. Easily get a 2nd or 3rd round pick from somebody. We have giroux,Schenn, and coots at center. All young and I believe the latter two will benefit playing in their normal position and increased playing time. Let's get younger and shed salary on this move. 4# Chris pronger.. Prolly the hardest to move this contract anywhere. He is most likely done and should retire. However he cannot do this without screwing the flyers with the cap hit for years to come. There has been talk of allowing 35+ players in that wonderful contract retire without any cap penalty if it is due to career ending injury and not performance in the new cba. If that's the case and flyers believe its going to be in the new cba no need to due anything at this point. 5#. Breezy. Not really much to say here. New cba with another ammnesty buy him out. Pay him his lump some of whatever it is and get rid of this head case. There are plenty of players capable of stopping the pucks that should be stopped. Josh Harding comes to mind. If Philly signs a caliber goalie like that then I think he will be bought out. Well there yah go. This is what I would do if I was gm. The moves made above are in no means to free space to sign suter or parise. Just to rid ourselves of contracts we no longer need. Time to get younger and take our 10-20, or if lucky a lottery pick for a year or two and build on what we have.

I would imagine there is no major trade at work here. I'm sure homer called and asked about Suter/weber. Asking price prolly too high for weber and suter wants to stay or go to Detroit/ Chicago. Prolly looking at a Schenn + for jvr. Maybe swap of 1st rounders involved. I'm hoping homer sees more value in jvr then Schenn at this point to not trade straight up. Maybe looking for that guy from Florida on d as well. I see carle already signed and not made official till they can actually tag him once the cap of 70.3 is made official. To be completely honest here and only going by salary/cap restraints I don't see anything major. For instance here, the flyers have 9 million in space. Now if you remove the bonus from Schenn And from bob you increase that to 11 mil and remove Shelly your at 12 mil. Resigning the following players and will most Likely be NHL roster are carle,jagr and voracek at a combined 12 mil leaves them at nothing. Prolly dumping some players to the a and signing sestito will be a wash. So after all of that what do we need? I say we do need a top 2 dman. Or maybe two top 4 dman. Either way removing a dman for salary relief will short you in that spot and will need to find replacement. The flyers are going after parise hard and possibly hall gill for d and that dman from Florida who is 27 and ufa. Name guys? The cap is going up to 70 mil roughly. Plenty of space and plenty of ways to remove salary. Ltir or trade or one time buyout of contract. Also wouldn't be surprised to see Bob traded and Josh Harding signed before new cba is signed so they know who they will buy out

Pipe dream I know. However if you really think about it this way, what if suter and weber have talked about after this season. They both maybe don't want to be in Nashville anymore. If they did want to be there they would have signed by now. No way they can afford 21 mil for 3 players. Question is, what would it take to get weber once and if suter signs here? Would a combo of jvr Gus picks work? Maybe they would take kimmo back as part of package. Maybe coburn in there as well? Wouldn't be thrilled about that but I would consider it

To the point. Ditch shelly add John Scott . Add weber and suter. Trade kimmo or ask him to retire. Sign carle, nothing better on ufa list sorry guys. Sign Josh Harding. Buy out breezy when cba is signed. Clear space accordingly starting with jvr. But really if we can get suter wouldn't weber want to come as well? Imagine if pronger were to come back late season. Wow

It's not the system. The the players missing assignments and not back checking. Odd man rushes happen when the dman pinches and the forward who should cover the point is slow to react or forgets and the puck gets pushed by the pinching dman. Also the third man high is needed. Two forwards down low the third forward must stay between the circles.

Also not sure if the union pres has the ability but I would want shannanan removed of duties as I would state he failed in his position to make fair and equal discipline to star or role players. Not just based on the flyers issues but league wide. He failed end of story.

Sounds good however the cap will go up 5 mil with the current cba but will be cut by as much as 15 percent to maybe 20 percent. That's what the league is going for with less revenue sharing to players. Now this is the system the league wanted and now they are saying salaries and cap is getting to high for the low revenue teams once again. As a person who does government cba's I find this as an issue. There is no way I would allow them to scare back salaries based on the fact the league locked its players out because of this negotiating issue in the last cba without major kick backs. The league will have to back down on this matter because it's simply not justifiable. If you have struggling teams you eliminate them. It's a business. If I was in charge of the players union I would go for a hard upper cap and use a soft lower level cap. There are other issues at hand but thats a big issue.

I want sestito. But they have to learn to get the puck in the corner on a high slow dump in. After a period of getting slammed by sestito they will rush to move the puck and we can jump on turnovers

Everybody relax. We are bashing this team way to much. Let's be serious for a second. Show of hands that thought we would win the cup this year at the beginning of the season. Not me. I'm proud of this team. Way to much heart on this team to be down on. This team has some serious injuries on it. Half the team needs surgery. Biggest names are giroux and kubina. Kubina shouldn't even be playing at all or practicing wi his injuries which are considered severe. Simmonds is hurting bad. The injury report is coming out soon and we will see why they just ran out of gas. Yes every team has injuries and such but when you shouldn't be playing and still are because it's your heart that's pushing you I see no reason to boo but only cheer no matter what the outcome.

Yah. No suspension. He doesn't meet the criterial for playoffs. But he is a flyer.

I wanna hear the post playoff injury report on this team. Something is seriously wrong with half the team. Simmonds? He is not himself all the way to giroux
