  1. Think about it, Philly won game 1 by one goal (2-1), lost game 2 after being up by a goal at the end of the first period and were tied at the end of the second, then NJ stepped on the gas in the third.

The Flyers then went on to win three straight to win the series.

I probably sound like a broken record with how many times I say this year's playoffs is like 2010, but I have to completely agree with you. Let's hope it all plays out the same, minus the results of the Cup Final!

  2. They've been saying (you know who "they" are) that he's been nursing some kind of injury, groin I think, so it's probably for real.

Crosby was pulling all of his teammates' groins last series, but he didn't miss a game. Thank you, thank you, I'll be here all week. Be sure to tip your waitresses and try the veal.

  3. Time for another big ga,e from one of the kids.

Schenn? Cooter? Cooter - he's been kind of quiet, too quiet. :)

I think tonight will belong to Briere, JVR, and Simmonds. Bryz will be good not great, but that's all we need from him in this series. 5-2 final.

  4. Well at least this means Flyers games won't be preempted by the Phillies (like yesterday)....but you can be sure the Sixers will still get preference over the Flyers as long as they're on the same station. Which makes no sense of course, the NBA May be bigger than the NHL in the States, but the Flyers are bigger than the Sixers in Philly

If both the Flyers and Sixers are playing, the Flyers will move over to 93.3 WMMR for the game. Still stays on FM, so no complaints there! WIP deserves to lose these teams.

  5. I have been saying to my friends, the offense reminds me of the 2010 team. But instead of Hartnell and Leino with Briere, it is JVR and Jake that are stepping up. I think we can roll 4 lines and really have no weakness up front. We had better top D in 2010, but as a whole I think this defensive unit is better. Again, there is no D pair that I am afraid to have out there.

  6. Rangers vs. Caps: I would love to pick with my heart, but I think the Rangers will step up from their first round performance. Rangers in 6.

Flyers vs. Devils: I am scared that I really can't find a single person who is picking the Devils. But like everyone else, I just can't see how the Devils can compete with the Flyers if both teams play like they did in round one. Flyers in 5.

Blues vs. Kings: This time I am going with my heart, as I really want to see a Flyers East vs. Flyers West Stanley Cup Final. The storylines would be endless. Kings in 7.

Coyotes vs. Preds: The Coyotes took game 1, but I think The Preds are a better team overall, and their offense will improve as the series goes on. Preds in 6.

  7. Drink up. Nice call....that choking you hear is your black and yellow team

Thank you for using you're 4th post to respond to me. I feel honored. Now go puff out your chest at the local bar and take home the girl that looks the closest like Tyler Kennedy.

  8. We are winning tonight. We are clearly the better team. The Flyers mailed it in during the 2nd period of Game 4. They own the Pens in Pissburgh, and both teams know it. They will not let this game slip away. So don't let 1 game make you forget about the first 3.

This series ends tonight. So at around 10:15 tonight, when the series is over and we're all watching the handshake line, raise your glasses or bottles and toast Briere, Giroux, Hartnell, Read, Simmonds, Couturier, Jagr, and even Bryz. Because we're going to round 2, and there is nothing that Cindy, Corky, Frankenstein's Monster, or Flower Girl can do to stop it. Let's Go Flyers!

  9. No suspensions. Won't happen.

And the lousiest thing that happened was LeTang going after Kimmo. What a little b*tch, pounds on a guy that fights about once a year. I hope we go up about 5 zip and send Rinaldo out to go get suspended.

    **** em

hagelin was just suspended 3 games for his elbow in the Rangers/Sens game last night. I am revising my predictions. Neal 1, Adams 1, Asham 4. Take that to the bank.

  10. I know the media will skew the truth at times, but that clip seemd to be pretty telling with the old guy (assume he was th owner) defending their actions because they're Pens fans. They must have changed their tune after that clip was broadcast.

It was a woman who was on the phone, and she said she handled the orders from the Flyers in the past. She better hope the owner doesn't find out about this or she may have to start applying for the only other available job in West Virginia: the mines.

  11. Wow. I should drink some coffee or something. The title of the post should read "Flyers DENIED Service". That link is not the video I was trying to post. Try this link.

Looks like the rib joint will sell to the Flyers after all. 97.5 called them this morning and they said they didn't serve them that one time because it was Easter Sunday. The lady's exact quote was "If you have money, we have ribs." Let's go eat!

  12. That's right Jack - I agree. Who's our "puck-moving D-man" after Carle? Kimmo right? But he's running on fumes at this point and next year won't be better it'll be worse. Gus may not make the team out of camp. I like his speed and he can pass the puck but he's also small, on the weak side and prone to rookie mistakes - much more so than MAB. He's got a shot but I'd give Manning an equal look if I had my way.

Back to the points. Like you said Mez has an offensive upside but it's hit-n-miss; we can't rely on him to put up Carle-like points. I like his drive, his energy when he's on his game, but he also turns in quite a few "Where is his head?" games.

I see what MadDog sees too - Carle drives me a little crazy sometimes, especially earlier this year. But the past couple months he eliminated those up-the-gut-passes-to-nobody turnovers and he looks pretty solid to me now.

If Carle walks I think fans are going to miss him without really knowing they're missing him.

Here's the problem with Carle. He is a good player and can put some points up. There are at least a few teams that will realize that. I think he is going to get a $4.5 to 5 million offer from another team in the offseason. I wouldn't pay him that to stay in Philly. And we havne't been hurting to score when you look at the season as a whole. We have needed D who can clear the net and take the body. We now have that locked up for 4 years. We will get either Kubina or Carle, but not both. I think Kubina ends up being the route the Flyers go with.

  13. I think we have seen that any offense against the Penguins will be fined, so I say we start a fund to help pay for whatever Flyers gets the fine today. This isn't a bounty because I'm not asking them to injure a player. I am saying that I KNOW a fine will come from somewhere today and it most likely will be unwarranted. Anyone else in?

  14. I know things could definitely still change but with the loss tonight against Florida, it is looking more and more likely that the Flyers will finish in the 5 seed and play either the Pens or Rags in the 4 seed. (At least we would have "away ice advantage" since the Flyers have played better on the road this year than at home.) I think with how well the Pens are playing and the mediocre play of NY, I'd rather play the Rags even though we haven't beaten them yet this year. Actually, the best chance for the Flyers to get out of the first round might be to lose a few more games and drop to the 6 seed and play the winner of the southeast division - most likely Florida who ironically probably killed our chances of catching Pissburgh or NY tonight but I still like our chances against them in a 7 game series. Any thoughts?

Here is how I see things shaking out. The 7 and 8 seeds may get jumbled a bit, but I think it will be 1-Pittsburgh, 2-Boston, 3-Florida, 4-NYR, 5-Flyers, 6-Devils. Devils will knock off Florida, we will beat the Rangers, so it will be Pittsburgh-Devils and Bruins-Flyers in the 2nd round. If we have the hot goalie, we have a shot because Boston can't roll over us in a shootout in the playoffs. So then Pittsburgh-Flyers in the Conference Finals. 7 game series that we win in Pittsburgh on a Bryz shutout.

My ONLY (Ha!) fear is that we would be too worn out from the Pittsburgh series for the Stanley Cup Finals.

  15. I CANNOT believe no one is talking about this this morning!!! Not a single mention of Bryz blowing his top and smashing his stick off the ice after Simmonds turned the puck over. Are you KIDDIN me?! I've been watching hockey for a while now and I don't think I've ever seen a golaie call out a teammate like that DURING game play.....

Bryz might be playing better right now but he went WAY down in my book after that move. Tottaly classless and NOT what a good teammate does.....Danny B. prob hit it right on the head. this guy must be a NIGHTMARE to play with.....

Not trying to stir the pot here but I cannot believe no one takes any offence to that move by Bryz last night......UNREAL! Simmonds has been a BEAST for most of the year and usually puts a 110% out there from what I've seen. For a guy who was playing like he's been since arriving here, and letting in completely deflating goals one after the other.....for HIM to call someone out for a bad pass.......

I was seruiously expecting him to get benched next game for that but from the post-game comments and Lavy's attitude it looks like this is gonna "slip by" without mention.....this is confusing to me.....

My whole thing is, who cares if it was based on the Simmonds play? To think that teammates don't show frustration towards one another on the ice is incorrect. If a guy receives a "buddy" pass, the passer will surely get chewed out. If a guy misses a wide open player streaking in on a breakaway, he may raise his stick or look back at the player. If a guy won't pass the puck, someone may start banging their stick in frustration to call for the puck. None of those situations show that someone is a bad teammate. I think Bryz has a big target on his back and if he even sneezed the wrong way, his detractors are going to jump all over him.

At this point, he is our goalie going forward into the playoffs. I know comments on a message board won't ever get to him, but I don't see what the point is right now in bashing him. It's not going to change anything. It's just like the fact that right now, booing solves nothing except potentially wears away what little confidence he has built.
