  1. I liked MAB as well. I really enjoyed his compete level, especially early on. Unfortunately though he didn't really seem to be the same after: http://www.hockeyfights.com/fights/108123 hopefully this season he really makes some strides because i did like his game
  2. totally. I can't think of a time when I read or even thought about the lack of righties having an adverse effect on the Flyers ability to get out of their own zone. very interesting and I'm surprised an opponent would even mention it (unless he was planning on coming to the Flyers and hoped they'd address the issue).
  3. haha, yes! that's would absolutely be a bonus. they have been a thorn in the Flyers sides for all too long
  4. of all the different Flyers who have trade value, he is one I wouldn't mind using to acquire value. that said, if we trade him, he absolutely win the cup with another team
  5. Again, i wish I could find the images that DNL showed. I saw more people for my highschool's football championship than I did in the footage the decided to roll. I wasn't trying to minimize the LA fans, I just thought I'd have seen a bigger turnout (which by the way, I fully acknowledge it could have been which is why I continuously reference the fact that the only knowledge I have of the turn out is what DNL decided to show me and the conversation between Barkann and Lappy and Lappy making excuse after excuse for the turnout...there's way more to do in LA, it's a different mentality, Hollywood, the beach, blah blah blah). I felt bad for the team if the turnout was really that poor, I really did. My post wasn't a "hahaha, they have sh!tty fans" post. I'm sorry you took it that way
  6. I'm sure, and hopefully for the organization you are right. I'm only going by the images Daily News Live decided to show me and the conversation Barkann and Lappy. Lappy had plenty of reasons for the poor turnout but if you thought it was packed then awesome! Also, assuming they images I saw were accurate and your opinion is in reference to the same thing, then you and I just don't agree on what constitutes a "packed" championship parade.
  7. wow, was watching a bit of Daily News Live and they showed some clips of the parade... anyone see it? NOW THAT'S A PARADE!!!! such a shame (seriously) Lappy is on and he's kinda explaining the poor turn out.
  8. why isn't he? who's to say what's allowed to be important and what isn't? Lupol is an ex-flyer taking a dig at the team. it's relevant. if want to turn the other cheek then more power to you but you don't need to be so judgmental on others who's passion doesn't directly line up with yours.
  9. @Bertmega ah yes, thanks! haha, zherdev
  10. I forget and don't fee like looking it up so if you know off the top of your head, perhaps you can help me remember who the Flyers needed to make space for again? I remember the move and realizing that it sucked but understood it because it was for cap reasons but I just can't seem to remember who they were making space for
  11. that to me is the big reason I don't think a 10 yr deal is worth it. you never know what you are going to get healthwise so why lock yourself into a deal that long? (the Islanders may have a thing or two to say on that subject) especially at that cap hit? I mean, at that price, you may as well ink a shorter deal and see where you are at the end of it, it's not like the price has that much more room to go up! I guess the long term deal would be so you can keep him on the team but even still to me it's too big of a risk at that number. fortunately this guy doesn't NEED to rely on that aspect of his game to be successful. If he decided to be a perimeter guy and float he can still do so and get away with it 'cause dude has sniping abilities. I don't think his compete level would allow him to just switch it off but if he needed to he could. 10yr deal though, forget about it.
  12. It really is a shame we didn't have this guy playing for the O&B for more of his career. Stand up guy and stand up player! nothing but respect. It's a shame he had his career cut short but it is nice to see that he isn't suffering the lingering effects that seem to plague the guys who's careers are cut short due to this type of injury. He'd definitely make a good coach and I certainly wouldn't be opposed to seeing him do more TV analysis (for the Flyers). I enjoyed his insight and while he came off a tad bias at times (homer announcers in philly? no way!) he did seem to be fair and honest.
  13. having one season under his belt here will certainly help. Not having 24/7 here will absolutely help. Fortunately this wasn't the worst first season for this team to have. to me, they overachieved, despite falling hard at the end. I just hope that Bryz doesn't continue his act from the end of the season as far as his attitude is concerned. I don't like the way our media handles things for sure, typically trying to stir the pot for a sound bite (do you guys want the Flyers to fail?) but at the same time it begs the question of if that's the approach he's going to take, then why bother with the media at all. Just keeping up that act to me is just as distracting as the braindead, pot stirring questions the media asks.
  14. hey man, np. I just wanted to make it clear that I wasn't bent about the situation. I'm not thrilled about ex-flyers winning the cup right away, but that comes more from the frustration of having the organization promise us fans this that and the other thing about players and then things don't work out. At the same time, I'm okay giving credit where credit is due and Richards handled things as classy as one could hope. He's been given numerous opportunities to take digs at the Flyers and he's handled each of those situations with class. That said, I still believe there's a part of Richards, Carter, and even Stevens that wish they could've gotten it done in Philly. Exiting the lockout,
  15. Well, I certainly didn't mean to imply that it would enter their mind immediately and thus get in the way of enjoying the moment. I just meant that it is a lot different feeling to carry a team that was built around you to a championship. They worked towards that goal since the lockout. I also didn't say they were slouches (or fourth liners as you put it) who rode the coattails of a good team. I acknowledged that they contributed to the Kings success, they just weren't the cornerstones of the team. As far as respect from their teammates, why wouldn't they get the respect? They're both good players and good guys and people in the hockey world love them. It just didn't work out here, no need to believe it wouldn't work out elsewhere, people sometimes just need a change of scenery
  16. getting 44 wins is nice, as long as they are the right wins. Kinda like the Jagr discussion. He played great and was a big help this season... but where was he when it mattered most? I value season success as much as the next guy, but bottom line numbers aren't the whole story.
  17. I'd like to take that a step further and say that if they were still Flyers, the Kings might still win the cup. yes, they contributed but they aren't the main reasons the Kings won. They had a very well balanced team and rock solid goaltending. And as far as Jeff and Mike are concerned, sure it was nice to win the cup but I'm sure it must sting a bit knowing they couldn't get the job done as leaders of their team and just merely cogs of another. Stanley Cup champs they are and no one can take that away from them but something tells me it would've been much more satisfying if had happened for them in 2010.
  18. wow, someone is still bent his party crew got broken up? maybe if they kept their eye on the prize, they could've all stayed in Philly and actually performed up to the expectations... stay bent Joff
  19. I'm not one for using other people's articles to justify my own feelings regarding anything. I have eyes, I can make up my own mind. I didn't like Jeff all that much when he was here. He scored a bunch but my biggest complaint about him while he was here was that he did nothing to make anyone he played with better. Blaze down the wing and shoot high and wide. Or if the shot wasn't there, he'd skate it behind the net and then dump it to someone who was in no position to do anything remotely useful with it. Hardly ever did I find myself saying "wow, nice feed from Jeff there". On top of that, the season prior to him being traded I often labeled him a line cancer (going back to my previous point of him not making anyone around him better) it actually seemed like whatever line he was put on, they'd end up doing worse after he was assigned to them. Couple that with the fact that even though he was one of the team's highest scorers, everyone knew he wasn't someone who would put the team on his back and carry them when they needed. When he got his monster deal, it led me to believe he would be a Flyer for a long time. I bemoaned the deal as I wasn't looking forward to his brand of hockey for the next decade. Focus on that statement a second, "his brand of hockey". That means, despite what one might think of his game performances, results, you can still dislike his style, his brand. I wasn't a big fan of his brand of hockey, regardless of results. I believed with all the stuff about his game that bothered me, I felt the upside wasn't worth it and aside from the season he posted a career high in goals, I saw nothing from him that we couldn't get from someone else, someone who perhaps did play a brand of hockey that suited my tastes better. All the other nonsense about whether or not he was partying or running around cruising college chicks, well, I really didn't care. The guy is in his prime, making tons of money and has the access, so who am I to deny? I didn't feel like any of it got in the way of his game (Richards is a different story on that one). So in the end, I didn't hate Carter, I just didn't want him on the Flyers any longer. As far as me not wanting to see him raise the cup, well, that stems more from the fact that I'm tired of seeing ex-Flyers winning it all with another team. I don't think for a second that the Flyers would've won it with him had they kept him and on top of that I'd much rather Voracek and Couts over him any day, even if he won the cup 4 years in a row with another team.
