I am pretty sure it opens a roster spot for the Flyers. In other Phantoms news, Leighton is the only one on the team selected for the AHL All Star Game!

The crowded goalie situation is no more. Johan Backlund left the Phantoms after Wednesday's game. He has apparently reached an agreement to play elsewhere, likely in Europe, although I couldn't get specific details. The 31-year-old native of Sweden had been with the Phantoms since their first season in Glens Falls and was the team's MVP in 2010 when he accounted for the win in 21 of the team's 30 victories. He made just one appearance with the Phantoms this season in relief on Thanksgiving Day. He also played one game with the Trenton Titans. I think we really need an improvement on Lilja now! He was -2 and played 11:18 and no PK. Bourdon is not that great either but played 18:29 and was -1.

One of the biggest questions heading into Sunday's practice day apparently has been answered. According to goalie Ilya Bryzgalov, he will not be starting in the Winter Classic. That means backup Sergei Bobrovsky, who turned in a strong performance in Thursday's win against Pittsburgh, will play against the Rangers on Monday afternoon. "I have great news and even better news," Bryzgalov said. "OK, great news is I’m not playing tomorrow night and better news is we have a chance to win the game (Monday)." Erik Gustafsson (D) has been loaned from Philadelphia to the Adirondack Phantoms and will be in the lineup tonight against Portland.

Bourdon has played very well but I don't like the idea of both him and Lilja in the same lineup. We really need a solid replacement for Pronger. As far as best defenceman, my vote goes to Kimmo. Glad you made it over from Silly.com!

reallisa lisa dillman Sobering news. Looks like Simon Gagne is going to be out for awhile. Believed to be a head injury. Called upper-body injury in NHL talk. Good thing I dropped him from my Fantasy Team! Hope he is OK but another concussion?

Bryz has the same number of WINS as Louongo, Elliot, Quick and Lundqvist. I will take wins over stats any day! I believe Hockey is still a Team Sport!

I loved Blysma's comment to him in 24/7- "So you're a goal scorer now huh?" He is what Lappy and Betts were to the team but better IMHO. Excellent signing!
