  1. I'm not too bright, what can I say? But I am loyal. Flyer fan. Mrs P is an even bigger Flyer fan than me, arguably. Except they're too much a buncha wusses for her.

I actually like Mrs. P after reading the bunch of wusses part..I agree...

  2. Don't listen to that sheep herder for christ sakes. I mean his whole existence is to herd sheep.

There are sheep and then there are sheep (at least that is how it was explained to me).

My wife is calling. I have to go to the barn yard (pods- don't get jealous)

I am the big bad wolf in a herd of sheep...beware I'll rip you to shreds...

  3. I've just been busy. Vacation starts this weekend actually - getting married to Mrs P soon (Seriously. Crazy idea. I think I was drunk).

    Never thought I'd get re-married.

remarried? cmon dude didn't you learn the first time? lol

  4. Certainly. I am not knocking you at all- so don't think that way. Poking a bit of fun, but nothing more. Be proud of who you are and don't pay attention to blowhards like me!

it's all good Van..I really don't care what people think about me but it amazes me how surprised people are when I'm skeptical or bitter.. I'm a Flyers fan for christ's sake..I've seen it all, heard it all, was promised it all but still no cup...I can't imagine everyone is satisfied just making the playoffs every year..

  5. Perhaps not negative, but allot of your posts have a negative / cynical tone. Rare is it to see a post where you way "wow, positive, positive, etc.".

Reminds me a bit of the king of negativity: RochFlyer.

fair enough Van but after almost 40 years and no cup isn't it warranted to be bitter? even the Lightning and the Canes get lucky enough to win a cup for christ;s sakes...

  6. Things aren't always as easy as we'd like them to be...

    1) Cap world bud... pretty sure a new contract would eliminate the cheap deal he's on and put us in cap hell before we need to be.

    2) He's still RFA so it's not like there's any rush. We'd match any offer given to him and if not... it's going to be a shat load of 1st rounders as compensation.

    3) Maybe he's not comfortable negotiating right now.

I know what you're saying, but I'm more worried about other things... like our huge hole in our d-core and the drop of offense!

even if you give him 10 mill this year doesn't mean the cap hit will be 10 mill...look at Bryz's contract ect...you spread the money out to make it look good..

  7. People say I'm always negative well here is something positive..Claude Giroux..not only is he the best player on the Flyers he might be the best player in the entire NHL..

So why for christ's sakes is he making less money than Hartnell? It's time to lock this guy up for a long term deal...

Give him a 10 year deal worth 8-9 mill a year...this guy is the franchise...

don't let this become a Stamkos saga like in Tampa..

  8. I think you are thinking things a bit unclear. First, if the Flyers waive him and nobody claims him, the Flyers would have to pay his full salary (assuming he is assigned to the Phantoms)- which is $900k. Yet, they would absorb ZERO cap hit.

Now if Shelley was to be waived > unclaimed > plays for phantoms and the Flyers recall him (one can only assume massive injuries) and another team can claim him upon re-entry. At that point, the acquiring team and Flyers would split his salary AND cap hit. If the acquiring team sends said player to the AHL (exposing him again to waivers) and he clears, then the 50-50 salary and cap split hit is off the books.

So, in short, the Flyers could easily waive Shelley without absorbing a cap hit for the big club. The only time the 50-50 split comes into play is re-entry waivers and Shelley is claimed off another team.

good to know..thanks for the info..maybe there is some hope then of getting rid of Shelley...

  9. Niko Hovinen...

...he'll be the starter for the Phantoms (or at least be given every chance to win it) and if /when he has a good year (i know i'm being optimistic here which is not allowed...don't report me :D ) it would be expected the following season for him to replace Leighton he'll be turning 26 that season which by goaltenders standards should be more that mature enough and with a season to adjust his game to the north american style...backup in the NHL would be the next step...i believe the Phantoms will have a hell of a team this next up coming season...

...now i know that a lot has to happen between now and then but it seems that may be the plan.

I remember when the Flyers drafted this kid..but since the Phantoms moved to Adirondek or whatever I never see any of these guys play...hopefully he's a good one..

  10. Thanks for the compliment. I think our d-corps was very good last year despite Michalek and Martin, until the playoffs. Michalek was a great d man in Phoenix but didn't work out here. For some reason your team seemed to solve our defense all year long, and you guys were the only team we really couldn't put it to.

I also thought Tanner Glass was a good value signing..very underrated hockey player.. surprised the Jets let him go..

  11. I agree with the potential of Leights getting lite up...since the last time we saw him in orange and black he gave up 4 pretty soft goals i can surely seeing the same happen again yet however with Heeter being a four year starter at OSU i thing when the opportunity arrives he will be mature enough to handle it i mean he is already 23.

By the article he is confident enough to grow into the back up position if and when he is called upon...whoever is playing the best between he and Hovinen will get the shot if Leights struggles...

...Leights will be waived (again i know for the 20th time) and return to the goal in the Phantoms however will be the backup with whomever remains behind to be the starter for the Phantoms.

I hope your right about Heeter but typically college players have a harder time adjusting to the pro game and we know goalies take a while to develop..23 is young for a goalie..realistically he probably has 4 years of pro experience needed until he's ready to get the call..

  12. ....i know it's a stretch but after their recent success with Read maybe the Flyers have found another diamond in the rough.

Kid is still yound and has alot to prove still...but he has good size(6'4" 195) which you just can't teach...hoping they have struck gold again...an article on the prospect.

He will push Hovinen for the starter spot.

    http://www.philly.co..._in_Heeter.html

Leighton will get lit up in one of his few starts and the Flyers will rush this kid up right away and get his confidence crushed by the end of the season...Flyers don't know how to develop goalies..
